LENT IS A SEASON WHEN GOD CALLS US HOME
Lent is a season when God gently calls us back to Himself. It is not merely a time of external sacrifice, but a sacred invitation to interior transformation. In Lent, โcoming homeโ is described by the Church as metanoia, a complete turning around of the heart and mind. It is more than regret. It is a decision to change direction.
Metanoia happens when we finally realize that the things we have been chasing cannot truly satisfy us. Success, pleasure, recognition, control, comfort โ these can become the husks of the world, like the food the prodigal son longed to eat. They promise fulfillment but leave the soul empty. Lent gives us the grace to see clearly. It removes the illusions and exposes our deeper hunger.
To come home is to remember who we are. We are sons and daughters, not servants. We are loved, not merely tolerated. In Godโs presence, we are fully known and fully loved. There, we do not need to pretend. There, our wounds are not rejected but healed. There, our restless hearts finally find rest.
Through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, God reorients our desires. Prayer lifts our eyes back to the Father. Fasting detaches us from false satisfactions. Almsgiving stretches our hearts toward love. Each practice is a step on the road home.
Lent is not about punishment. It is about return. It is the season when God runs toward us the moment we turn back to Him. May this Lent be our metanoia โ our complete turning around โ and may we rediscover that the only place where we are truly alive is in the loving presence of God.

UPDATES: GLOBAL COMPACT ON EDUCATION. Global Compact on Education Commitments 1-7 was launched by Pope Francis on September 12, 2019. Pope Leo added three more Commitments nos. 8-10 which are relevant to address the needs of learners and schools at the present time.
As CEAP, we recognize the Global Compact on Education as a sacred covenant of conscience and hope, calling us to place the human person especially the young and the most vulnerable at the very heart of learning. It invites us to listen with depth and humility, to honor the dignity of women, strengthen families, and shape communities of welcome where no one is unseen and no learner is left behind. It challenges Catholic education to reimagine the economy, politics, and the digital world so that progress remains at the service of humanity, rooted in justice, solidarity, and care for our common home. It reminds us that true education forms not only the intellect and skill, but the conscience and interior life, awakening the capacity to discern meaning, responsibility, and hope. In this spirit, the Compact calls CEAP schools to be builders of peace, forming lives open to dialogue and fraternity, and nurturing a future shaped by compassion, courage, and the flourishing of all.
