PSU STA. MARIA CAMPUS DEPLOYS STUDENT ASSISTANTS TO VARIOUS OFFICES
STA. MARIA, PANGASINAN โ Ten student assistants were officially deployed to various offices of Pangasinan State UniversityโSta. Maria Campus following an orientation conducted today, September 8, 2026, in line with Office Advisory No. 67, series of 2026, on the Hiring, Deployment, and Monitoring of Student Assistants for the First Semester, AY 2026โ2027.
The program provides students with an opportunity to contribute to campus operations while gaining practical experience in a professional work environment. At the same time, their deployment helps strengthen the delivery of academic, administrative, and student support services, particularly in offices that attend to a high volume of daily transactions.
The ten student assistants were deployed by Ms. Donna May B. Gavina, Dean of Students and Alumni Affairs, to their respective offices. Shane Mitch Hornales, BS Agriculture II, was assigned to the Office of the Campus Executive Director; Jane M. Prestoza, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering II, to the Office of the Dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTE); Donna S. Tantay, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering II, to the Office of the Dean of the College of Agriculture (COA); Jerome B. Goloyugo, BSEd Mathematics IV, to the Office of the Dean of Students and Alumni Affairs (SAA); Roma May J. Naing, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering III, to the Cashier and Accounting Office; Gerlly Glen D. Nacis, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering III, to the Registrarโs Office; Julia Mae P. Parairo, BSEd English IV, to the Admission and Guidance Services Office; Lemar O. Benitez, BS Agribusiness Management IV, to the Supply Office; Raphaela Joy Estigoy, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering III, to the Medical and Dental Services Office; and Mark Godwin Ortiguero, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering V, to the Information and Communications Technology Management Office (ICTMO).
Deployment of student assistants reflects the University's continuing effort to provide students with opportunities that go beyond classroom learningโallowing them to develop responsibility, communication skills, professionalism, teamwork, and a stronger sense of service.
More than providing assistance to university offices, the Student Assistant Program also recognizes the value of student participation in the day-to-day life of the institution. Through meaningful work opportunities, students are given the chance to learn while contributing to a more responsive and efficient campus community.
The initiative contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 โ Quality Education, by providing students with practical and experiential learning opportunities; SDG 8 โ Decent Work and Economic Growth, by promoting productive student employment and the development of work-related skills; and SDG 10 โ Reduced Inequalities, by supporting opportunities that can help students pursue their education while gaining financial assistance through campus employment.
The Student Assistant Program is part of the University's continuing efforts under the leadership of Dr. Elbert M. Galas, PSU President, and Dr. Oliver C. Caasi, Campus Executive Director, to promote student development and strengthen responsive campus services.
As the student assistants begin their assignments, the PSU Sta. Maria Campus looks forward to their active participation and meaningful contribution to the university community.
