The Institute of Business and Public Affairs โ€“ Local Student Government (IBPA-LSG) conducted its 1st Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral (SMA) Special Session on September 18, 2026, via Google Meet.

The session focused on the 3rd Reading of Resolution No. 001, Series of 2026, marking another step in the Assemblyโ€™s continuing work toward addressing matters within the IBPA student community. Through careful discussion, deliberation, and collaboration, the SMA members took part in the legislative process and ensured that matters brought before the Assembly were given proper attention.

The Institute of Business and Public Affairs โ€“ Local Student Government (IBPA-LSG) conducted its Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral (SMA) 2nd Regular Session on September 17, 2026, at the MPEC Conference Room. The session served as an avenue for the members to discuss legislative matters, review proposed measures, and fulfill their responsibilities as representatives of the student body.

The session covered several important matters, beginning with the budgetary presentation, followed by the First and Second Readings of Resolution No. 001, Series of 2026. The Assembly also tackled the Third Reading of Ordinance No. 015, Series of 2026, the Second Reading of Ordinance No. 016, Series of 2026, and the First and Second Readings of Ordinance No. 017, Series of 2026. Furthermore, Ordinance No. 018, Series of 2026, was presented for its First Reading.

Through every reading, presentation, and discussion, the IBPA-LSG 1ST SMA continue to uphold the importance of proper deliberation and responsible student representation. Each session provides an opportunity for the members to listen, exchange ideas, and work together on matters that concern the IBPA student community.

The Institute of Business and Public Affairs โ€“ Local Student Government (IBPA-LSG) held its 1st Executive Meeting on September 17, 2026, at the MPEC Conference Room, bringing together the members of the Executive Department for a discussion on matters concerning the organization.

Through the discussion, the Executive Department of the IBPA-LSG was able to address matters that require collective consideration and ensure that concerns are properly discussed before decisions are made.

The meeting reflects the importance of coordination within the student government, where plans are discussed, concerns are heard, and decisions are made with the responsibilities of serving the IBPA student community in mind.

On September 17, 2026, the Institute of Business and Public Affairs โ€“ Local Student Government (IBPA-LSG) participated in the second annual Legislative Training held at the DNSC Audio-Visual Room, together with student leaders from different Local Student Governments and Program-Based Organizations.

With the theme, โ€œAll Aboard the Bill-board: Navigating the Seas of Student Legislation Towards New Horizons,โ€ the training provided student leaders with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of parliamentary procedures, legal writing, and effective deliberation.

The members of the 1st IBPA-LSG Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral (SMA) attended the session and gained valuable insights from the discussions and lectures delivered throughout the training. The activity served as an avenue for them to further understand the processes involved in student legislation and the responsibilities that come with serving as part of the legislative body.

Through their participation, the IBPA-LSG 1st SMA continue to build their knowledge and confidence in legislative work, preparing themselves to take part in discussions, deliberations, and decisions that represent the interests of the IBPA student community.

The Institute of Business and Public Affairs - Local Student Government (IBPA-LSG) proudly celebrates the earned recognition of the Davao del Norte State College - Bachelor of Science in Social Work program for having been recognized as Rank 1 among the Top Performing Schools Nationwide achieving an outstanding 100% passing rate in the 2026 Social Worker Licensure Examination (SWLE) among schools with 51 or more examinees and at least an 80% passing rate.

The IBPA-LSG extends its congratulations to the 66 successful examinees who firmly showed their dedication, perseverance, and commitment excellence, contributing to this remarkable milestone.

This achievement reflects not only the hard work of our successful examinees but also the dedication of the BSSW faculty, mentors, and the entire DNSC community who continue to nurture competent, compassionate, and service-driven future social workers.

The Institute of Business and Public Affairs โ€“ Local Student Government (IBPAโ€“LSG), proudly recognizes the participation and achievements of Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA), one of its programs under the institute, its officers and fellow researchers in the 3rd Dabaonon Research and Development Regional Congress which gathered researchers from across the Davao Region on September 9, 2026, at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Capitol Compound, Tagum City, under the theme, โ€œAdvancing Inclusive and Resilient Communities through Research, Innovation, and Collaboration.โ€

Representing Davao del Norte State College, researchers from the BPA program earned three recognitions across different categories, showcasing the strength of research in addressing community and governance concerns.

The Institute of Business and Public Affairs โ€“ Local Student Government (IBPA-LSG) recognizes the research achievement of its Sanggunian ng mga Mag-Aaral (SMAs), SMA Rosalia P. Apordo and SMA Aprilyn Joy R. Loja, who, together with their co-author Venice Dwyne L. Layaguin, successfully presented their research paper entitled โ€œDimensions of Party-List Voting in the Philippines: An Exploratory Factor Analysis of Awareness, Choice Drivers, and Participation,โ€ under the Social Sciences Cluster during the Madayaw International Multidisciplinary Research Conference held at San Pedro College on August 13, 2026.

SMA Rosalia P. Apordo, the principal author of the study, presented the research onsite at San Pedro College, with SMA Aprilyn Joy R. Loja as a non-presenting author and Troy Jon N. Ancho as their research adviser. Their participation in the conference reflects the value of research, academic excellence, and evidence-based inquiry in understanding the social and political realities that shape our communities. Their work contributes to meaningful conversations on party-list voting, voter awareness, choice drivers, and political participation in the Philippines.

The IBPAโ€“LSG commends SMA Apordo, SMA Loja, and Layaguin for representing not just the student body but also the whole DNSC through their research and for demonstrating that student leadership extends beyond governanceโ€”it also encompasses the pursuit, advancement, and sharing of knowledge.

The Institute of Business and Public Affairs โ€“ Local Student Government (IBPA-LSG) conducted its Post-Evaluation Meeting on September 10, 2026, bringing together its student government officers and Program-Based Organization Presidents for a collective discussion following the recently concluded KASADYA 2026.

The meeting served as an avenue to look back on the implementation of the event, discuss observations from the activity, and reflect on the experiences gathered throughout its conduct. Through evaluation, the officers were able to revisit the different aspects of the event and consider points that may help improve the organizationโ€™s future activities.

The session served as an opportunity for the
legislative members to discuss their plans, priorities, and upcoming initiatives for Academic Year 2026โ€“2027. It also highlighted the importance of attendance, active participation, and teamwork in carrying out their responsibilities as student leaders.

Through unity and collaboration, the Legislative Unit remains committed to promoting responsible governance and meaningful representation for the IBPA student community.

In accordance with Article XIV, Section 7 of the Constitution and By-Laws of the IBPA-LSG, and Rule II, Sections 5 and 6, as well as Rule III of the IBPA-LSG Sangguniang ng mga Mag-Aaral (SMA) Internal Rules and Procedures, the standing committees of the 1st Sangguniang ng mga Mag-Aaral are hereby established to ensure an organized, efficient, and effective legislative process.

The standing committees are composed of the SMA Pro Tempore, Floor Leaders ( Majority & Minority) Blue Ribbon Committee, Archives Committee, Appeals Committee, Recommendations Committee, and Transition Committee. Each committee is assigned specific responsibilities that contribute to the proper review and processing of proposed measures, resolutions, concerns, and other matters brought before the Sanggunian.

These committees serve as an essential part of the legislative body by promoting accountability, collaboration, transparency, and responsible student representation. Through their respective functions, the committees aim to address student concerns, support sound decision-making, and ensure that every legislative matter is properly considered and acted upon.

The establishment of these standing committees marks another step toward strengthening the IBPA-LSG's commitment to good governance, effective leadership, and dedicated service to the student community.
