𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗: 𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗛 𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗥𝗦 ✨
Today, the MATH πRATES organization held the "Paying It Forward: Scientific Calculator Distribution to Math Majors" program. The program was opened by Ma. Nichole Manarang, MATH πRATES Org President. She gave the beneficiaries a short background on this tradition, which started back in June 2024, when an alumnus donated 8 scientific calculators to Math majors. She also shared that she was also a beneficiary of that donation, and that the calculator she received has been with her ever since, helping her get through her major subjects. Now, as the Org President, she gets to witness this same tradition continue for a new batch of students.
Dr. Kimberly Mallari, Dean of the Institute of Education, followed with her opening remarks. She shared how Mr. Aldrin Jay Doria and Ms. Lyka Suba-Doria personally reached out to her, asking what they could donate to help the Math majors. Then, Doc Kim reminded the beneficiaries to take good care of their calculators so that someday, they too can pass on the same kindness to future Math majors.
The distribution then took place, with the first batch of five 1st year Math majors receiving their brand-new calculators, courtesy of Mr. Aldrin and Ms. Lyka. One of the beneficiaries, Rainier Ramos, spoke on behalf of the recipients to thank the donors. He shared that the calculators would be a big help in their learning journey.
The program ended with photos and documentation, capturing another meaningful chapter.
