THE UPHSL COLLEGE OF CRIMINOLOGY ENSURES FORENSIC PRECISION THROUGH SYSTEMATIC LABORATORY CALIBRATION | May 23, 2026

“Precision in the laboratory ensures integrity in the courtroom.”

Building directly upon our institutional commitment to academic excellence, the UPHSL College of Criminology successfully conducted a comprehensive calibration session for all specialized forensic science equipment last May 23, 2026. This technical maintenance ensures that our laboratory instruments meet the exact standards required for both elite academic instruction and real-world forensic application.

Under the proactive leadership of our Dean, Jake D. Calongcong and driven by the essential technical expertise of our Laboratory Technician, Ms. Deserie Saez, the calibration process focused on verifying the accuracy, sensitivity, and reliability of our specialized training tools.

Ms. Saez spearheaded the meticulous process of testing and aligning our equipment against strict traceable standards to ensure flawless operational readiness for our students:

Forensic Ballistics: Technical calibration and optical alignment of our comparison microscopes to guarantee perfect side-by-side bullet and cartridge case analysis.

Questioned Documents: Verifying light source wavelengths and imaging clarity on our specialized analytical units for secure document inspection.

Polygraphy: Conducting precise functional and chart calibrations on our lie-detection components to ensure accurate physiological tracking.

Dactyloscopy: Checking the measurement accuracy and readiness of tools utilized for latent fingerprint development and lifting.

We believe that true competence in criminology is forged through hands-on mastery of dependable, perfectly calibrated technology. By consistently maintaining our forensic facilities at peak operational standards, we empower our students to learn with confidence and execute criminalistics procedures with absolute scientific rigor.

As we approach the new academic year, the College remains steadfast in keeping our advanced training facilities perfectly tuned. We aren’t just preparing for classes; we are safeguarding the precision of scientific criminal investigation.

EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF CRIMINOLOGISTS: REVIEW ORIENTATION AND CAREER ENHANCEMENT SEMINAR | April 29, 2026

In our continuous pursuit of excellence and maintaining high academic standards, the UPHSL College of Criminology successfully conducted a Criminology Review Orientation and Career Enhancement Seminar last April 29, 2026.

Following our recent record-high institutional passing rate of 61.54% in the February 2026 licensure cycle, this initiative was specifically designed to prepare our graduating 4th-year students for their upcoming journey toward the February 2027 Licensure Examination for Criminologists (LEC).

We were honored to host two reputable review institutions that provided pedagogical insights and strategic roadmaps for public safety careers:

• AIMSMART Review & Training Center – led by Atty. Jeffrey B. Bajita, RCrim (Top 1, October 2007 CLE), focusing on "smarter" preparation strategies.

• Quest Review Center – Muntinlupa – represented by Ms. Sheryll R. Aman, showcasing their proven track record of producing board top-notchers.

By providing our graduating seniors with early access to these comprehensive review programs, we ensure they are not just ready to take the exam, but are equipped to lead and excel in the field of criminal justice.

The road to the "RCrim" title begins with the right preparation. Congratulations to our future Criminologists for taking this proactive step toward your professional goals!

SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED: SEMINAR ON LAWS PROMOTING THE RIGHT OF WOMEN, DNA, AND ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE | April 30, 2026

On April 30, 2026, the UPHSL College of Criminology successfully held its specialized seminar, "Understanding Legal Matters in Criminology: A Pre-Seminar Discussion," at the Studio Room 455. This event served as a vital platform for bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world legal practice for our future law enforcers.

Under the proactive leadership of our Dean, Dr. Jake D. Calongcong, and our Program Chairperson, Prof. Venus Sabate, MSCJ, the seminar provided a comprehensive look at the modern legal landscape. We extend our gratitude to our distinguished guest speakers for sharing their invaluable expertise:

Atty. Stephen P. Gumboc, J.D., MPA, LL.M.

Jogie Blanche B. Delos Santos, MAEd

Key Discussion Pillars:
Laws Promoting the Right of Women: Strengthening our advocacy for gender-responsive law enforcement.

DNA Evidence: Deepening the understanding of the "gold standard" in forensic identification.

Electronic Evidence: Navigating the complexities of digital footprints in the modern age.

By engaging in these critical discussions, our Perpetualite students are now better equipped to serve and protect with competence, discipline, and integrity.
