ACTIONS speak louder than WORDSโ
Jesus approaches Matthew, a tax collector, and calls him, even though he is a sinner and has been rejected by many people. Jesus did not hesitate to express love and show mercy towards Matthew. Jesus did not criticize him because of his past, but because of his potential for good works. Jesus proves that love requires accepting someone and offering him an opportunity to improve, showing that it is never too late to change.
This gospel reminds us that even if we are sinners, God proves that love is not only shown by words like โI love you" and "I care for you.โ Instead, love can be shown through actions, not through words. Through respecting someone you love, being honest, listening, forgiving, and supporting others during hard times. A person might say they love someone, but true love is seen when it is acted out.
To be in a healthy relationship, one needs to express their love always. When a person commits mistakes, they can still show love by being merciful to them without showing judgment or leaving them right away. It is also important to remember that genuine love always comes with respect, not just simply expressing wonderful words.
As I end my reflection, remember that love has more meaning when it is shown through action rather than through words. We may say that words are ways how we can express ourselves, but still actions will confirm our words. Love can be shown in how we interact with each other. So, before we say something to someone, prove it through actions, not through words. So be it.
