Every year, July is designated as National Disaster Resilience Month under Executive Order No. 29, which was passed into law in 2017. This month-long awareness campaign aims to promote preparedness, response, and recovery from disasters and emergencies. The purpose of this month-long initiative is to educate the public on the importance of disaster preparedness, highlight the impact of disasters on individuals, communities, and economies, and emphasize the role of resilience in mitigating the effects of disasters.

Michaelians and fellow Filipinos, let us raise awareness about disaster risks, promote community engagement, and encourage individuals and communities to take proactive steps to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

Michaelians! Let us join the nation in observance of National Disaster Resilience Month with the theme "Bantayog ng katatagan at ang pagbubuklod sa layuning Kahandaan." At 9:00 AM today, June 18, 2026, Saint Michael's School of Padada, Inc. proudly took part in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, under the leadership of our Disaster Action Team. This nationwide effort is more than just a routine exercise โ€” it is a reminder of our shared responsibility to prepare, to act, and to protect lives in the face of uncertainty. While we recognize that no drill is flawless, each step we take brings us closer to the discipline and readiness required when real disasters strike. Every siren, every movement, and every instruction followed is a rehearsal for resilience. We strive not for perfection alone, but for the courage to improve, the commitment to safety, and the determination to stand ready. Following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Mindanao on June 8, 2026, Saint Michaelโ€™s School of Padada, Inc. conducted an evacuation drill and orientation on earthquake preparedness today, June 15, 2026. This initiative ensures that Michaelians know the proper actions to take when a disaster occurs.

During the orientation, students were taught how to respond appropriately during an earthquake and were guided to the designated evacuation area. With the support of the Disaster Action Team members and moderator, the faculty and staff, and the active participation of all Michaelians, the community strengthened its awareness of the importance of resilience and readiness in the face of natural disasters.
