ANSCI4 students specializing in Ruminant Production took part in an educational tour at the Philippine Carabao Center located in Maramag, Musuan, Bukidnon. The activity commenced with a series of comprehensive lectures that provided students with a deeper understanding of carabao production, with emphasis on both meat and dairy systems. The discussions also covered breeding programs, herd health management, and the institutionโs significant role in strengthening the livestock industry in the Philippines.
After the lecture sessions, the students were guided through various areas of the facility, where they observed actual farm operations. This experience allowed them to examine key practices such as biosecurity protocols, proper housing systems, feeding management, and sustainable livestock production methods. Through these observations, students gained a clearer appreciation of the importance of sanitation, disease prevention, and effective animal handling in maintaining a productive and healthy herd.
The tour further introduced students to advancements in dairy production, genetic improvement, and the application of science and technology in modern agriculture. It also provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement, as students interacted with field experts, asked questions, and connected theoretical knowledge with real-world practices.
The faculty and students extend their sincere appreciation to the DA-Philippine Carabao Center at Musuan, for their warm welcome and for facilitating an informative and enriching learning experience. They are also grateful to the University President for granting permission to conduct the travel and educational tour. This activity has significantly contributed to the studentsโ academic growth and has inspired them to pursue excellence in the field of agriculture.
