Anchored on the global theme “𝑪𝒐-𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚: 𝑨 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒐 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒂 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚,” the event emphasized the power of collective action in promoting empathy, social justice, and social cohesion.

The program opened with inspiring Welcome Remarks from 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇. 𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒚𝒏 𝑳. 𝑳𝒂𝒓𝒐, 𝑹𝑺𝑾, 𝑴𝑨𝑺𝑾, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who encouraged future social workers to become catalysts of compassion and change.

A key highlight of the event was the official launch of 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝑫𝑨𝑺𝑰𝑮: “𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆,” presented by 𝑴𝒓. 𝑫𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒐 𝑨. 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒃𝒓𝒆 𝑱𝒓., 𝑹𝑺𝑾, 𝑳𝑷𝑻, 𝑴𝑺𝑺𝑾, OIC Program Head. The project stands as the flagship extension initiative of the BSSW program, aiming to bring social work principles into real-world community engagement and sustainable development.

Participants also gained valuable insights from the talk show “𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏,” skillfully moderated by 𝑴𝒔. 𝑱𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝑩. 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒂, 𝑹𝑺𝑾, and joined by esteemed panelists:

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and tokens led by 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇. 𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒚𝒏 𝑳. 𝑳𝒂𝒓𝒐, 𝑹𝑺𝑾, 𝑴𝑨𝑺𝑾, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, recognizing the panelists, Top 10 students per year level, and the Top 3 Social Work Vocabulary Champions. Closing Remarks were delivered by 𝑴𝒓. 𝑫𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒐 𝑨. 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒃𝒓𝒆 𝑱𝒓., 𝑹𝑺𝑾, 𝑳𝑷𝑻, 𝑴𝑺𝑺𝑾, reinforcing the call for unity and continued service.

This celebration stands as a testament that when people come together with a shared purpose, they can build bridges, inspire hope, and create lasting change in society.

𝐂𝐂𝐎 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐆𝐔𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The City College of Ormoc (CCO) continues to strengthen its partnerships with local government units through productive dialogues aimed at finalizing Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) for student field instruction placements.

On March 11, 2026, CCO representatives met with Hon. 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝘀 𝗝𝗿., Mayor of Isabel, Leyte, together with officials from the Municipal Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and the Municipal Legal Office. The meeting focused on coordinating internship opportunities and agreeing on the number of student interns to be accommodated by the municipality.

In a related engagement, CCO representatives were invited to attend a committee meeting in Hilongos, Leyte, presided over by 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Welfare. The meeting gathered representatives from the MSWDO, MDRRMO, Municipal Budget Office, and a representative of the Sangguniang Bayan. Discussions centered on the placement of student interns within the LGU and the possible inclusion of special provisions to further support their field learning experience. The LGU also expressed a strong interest in welcoming interns from CCO’s Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) programs.

Representing CCO in these partnership dialogues were 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘅 𝗠. 𝗔𝗽𝗶𝘁, 𝗥𝗦𝗪, 𝗠𝗧𝗦𝗪, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗕. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮, 𝗥𝗦𝗪, External Affairs Coordinator. They were joined during the committee meeting in Hilongos by 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗝𝗶𝗺𝗮 𝗭𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗝. 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮, Executive Assistant III and CCO Legal Officer.

These engagements reflect CCO’s continuing commitment to building meaningful partnerships with local government units to provide students with valuable and relevant field instruction opportunities.

The Reports on the Result of the Preliminary Assessment (RRPA) of the said programs were personally signed and handed over by CHEDRO-VIII Director, Dr. Maximo Aljibe, CESO III, to Atty. Nolito Quilang, DPA, CESE, the institution's OIC President/College Administrator, during the former's visit to the institution earlier this morning.

During Dr. Aljibe's visit, he shared his commitment and dedication to helping the college expand its academic offerings in the future, in adherence to CHED's guidelines. In return, CCO also committed to closely collaborating with CHEDRO-VIII in its future applications, including the Traditional Medicine program.

With this significant awarding of permits, this authorizes CCO to continually offer additional academic programs that are responsive to the needs of the community, apart from our four (4) existing programs: (1) Bachelor of Public Administration; (2) Bachelor of Science in Office Administration; (3) Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management; and (4) Bachelor of Science in Social Work.

Following this, the institution, through the Admissions Office, is now preparing to accept a significant number of applicants for the new programs.

February 11–12, 2026 — As part of its preparations for the implementation of the Field Instruction course for Academic Year 2026–2027, the City College of Ormoc (CCO) BS in Social Work Department conducted a series of agency visits to formalize and strengthen partnerships for Field Placement II (Community-Based). Initial partnership engagements were undertaken with the 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 (𝐌𝐒𝐖𝐃𝐎𝐬) 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐬, 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠, and 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚.

The Department is deeply honored by the warm welcome and sincere support extended by the Municipal Mayor of LGU Alangalang, Leyte (Lovely Alangalang), 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐌. 𝐘𝐮-𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨, who expressed her full commitment to help CCO in advancing social work education through collaboration with the MSWDO.

The Department likewise conveys its sincere appreciation to the MSWDO heads of the partner local government units—𝐌𝐫. 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨, 𝐑𝐒𝐖 of Mswdo Hilongos Leyte; 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐈𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞, 𝐑𝐒𝐖, 𝐃𝐏𝐀 of Baybay City; and 𝐌𝐚’𝐚𝐦 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐨 of Kananga—for their openness and willingness to support the Field Instruction program.

In addition, follow-up visits were conducted with Ormoc Holy Family Foundation, Inc. in Brgy. Milagro, Ormoc City, and Rosemary Home of Hope in Brgy. Hiluctogan, Kananga, Leyte, to finalize partnership plans and agreements.
