OCSIS Students Shine at District Level Competitions

Ormoc City, September 9, 2025 — Ormoc City SPED Integrated School proudly celebrates a double victory as its students clinched top spots in two prestigious academic competitions held at Ormoc City Central School.

Andriel Marvey Racho, Giovanni C. Janeiro, Shandra Reign Danosa, and Josh Malachi Maandig together with their coach Sir Daryll Cagoyong secured 1st Place in the very first District-Level Superintendent's Legacy Debate Challenge, showcasing exceptional critical thinking, public speaking skills, and poise under pressure. The team will represent the district this October in the Division Level.

In another impressive feat, Giovanni C. Janeiro together with his coach Ma'am Jeralyn R. Yanga brought home 2nd Place in the District Level Tourism Quiz Bee, demonstrating strong knowledge of local and city-wide tourism facts. The competition was joined by 9 elementary schools in District 1, with the winner coming from St. Peter's College of Ormoc.

The competitions were part of the district-level academic events aimed at promoting intellectual excellence and student engagement across schools in Ormoc City.

School officials, teachers, and classmates have expressed immense pride in the students' achievements, highlighting the school’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.

The school community looks forward to more successes in future competitions and continues to support its students in all academic endeavors.

OCSIS kicks off SY 2025-2026 with the school-based Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela activities

Highlights of today’s activity included the turnover of donations from our various stakeholders and of course, Bayanihan was very much alive as volunteers joined arms to clean up our school grounds and ensure the readiness of our classrooms. Another important part of the day’s activity was the pledge of commitment to support the school’s endeavors through Project ANGELS: Advocacies that Nurture, Gear up, and Empower Learners through Stakeholders’ Support, thereby renewing our sense of steadfast dedication to the school’s holistic well-being.

From the entire school community, thank you to everyone who made our Day 1 Brigada Eskwela a fruitful and successful one!

Fun fact: 2 of the 3 members of this outstanding team are actually OCSIS alumni! Alex Huan Karl Ascura was class valedictorian of batch 2019 and Benedicto Lambonao III was class valedictorian of batch 2020🎉

SDO Ormoc City Student-Researchers Champ at National Science Technology and Math Fair, Headed to International Competition

DepEd Ormoc City Senior High School's team achieved a historic victory at the National Science Technology and Math Fair, earning top honors for their groundbreaking research project in Mathematics and Computational Sciences. This prestigious win secures their place as Philippine representatives at the upcoming international competition in the USA in May 2025.

Congratulations to team members Dave Alcarez, Alex Huan Karl Ajel, and Benedicto Romero Lambonao III, and to their dedicated coach, Ramil Lauron!

The team's success is also a result of the invaluable financial support provided by the LGU Ormoc.
