Teaching playgroup learners is rewarding—but it requires patience, creativity, and lots of play. At this age, children don’t learn by sitting and listening; they learn by doing, singing, touching, and exploring.

Let me guide you in a simple, practical way 👇

1. Understand Your Learners
Playgroup children (ages 2–3):
Have short attention span (5–10 minutes)
Love movement and repetition
Learn through play, not pressure

👉 So your teaching must be fun, short, and active

2. Use Songs and Rhymes Always 🎶
This is your strongest tool!
Teach alphabets with songs
Use action rhymes (clap, jump, touch head)
Repeat songs daily
Example: “Head, shoulders, knees and toes…” (with actions)

👉 They will remember faster through music than talking

3. Teach Through Play (Very Important) 🎲
Turn everything into a game:
Counting: use blocks, stones, or toys
Colors: show real objects (red ball, blue cup)
Shapes: use flashcards or classroom items

👉 Learning should feel like play, not a lesson

4. Use Teaching Aids 🧸
Children at this stage are visual learners
Use:
Flashcards
Toys
Charts
Real objects

👉 The more they see and touch, the better they understand

5. Keep Lessons Short ⏱️
Break your class like this:
5 mins – Welcome song
5 mins – Activity (e.g., colors)
5 mins – Rhymes
5 mins – Play

👉 Avoid long explanations—they will lose focus

6. Encourage and Praise Always 👏
Even small effort matters:
“Good job!”
“Well done!”
Clap for them

👉 This builds confidence and keeps them excited

7. Don’t Force Learning 🚫
Some may not respond immediately—and that’s okay
Avoid shouting or pressure
Be gentle and patient
Allow them to learn at their pace

8. Focus on Basic Skills Only

At playgroup level, focus on:
Social skills (sharing, greeting)
Communication (simple words)
Motor skills (drawing, holding objects)
Recognition (colors, shapes, sounds)

👉 Not heavy academics

Be more of a mother, friend, and entertainer than a strict teacher.

Noisy
Active
Full of laughter
