The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat and United Nations Children’s Fund East Asia and the Pacific Regional Office (UNICEF EAPRO) enjoin colleagues from the Education Sector to participate in the online session titled “Community of Practice for Gender Transformative Education,” highlighting Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) on 25 February 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Bangkok Time)/2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Philippine Time).

In view of the foregoing, interested employees may opt to attend this event subject to the following conditions:
a. compliance with the applicable provisions of DepEd Order No. 046, s. 2022 titled the Amendment to DepEd Order No. 43, s. 2022 (Omnibus Travel Guidelines for All Personnel of the Department of Education) and Other Appropriate Orders and Guidelines on Travel;
b. secure approval from respective authorities;
c. participation shall not interfere with regular functions and responsibilities; and
d. use of DepEd funds strictly adheres to the usual budgeting, accounting, and auditing rules and regulations

Virtual Orientation on the Negros Island Region Education Leaders Academy (NIRELA)
"Transforming leaders, Empowering learners"

The Department of Education Negros Island Region (DepEd NIR), through the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD), recently engages the 22 SDOs - SGOD Chiefs, SEPS and EPS II of HRD, SMME, and SMN. This initiative aims to enhance leadership and management skills of education leaders in the region.

This virtual engagement also showcases the sharing of best practices, journey, and successes of the School Heads Academy in the SDOs of Negros Occidental Area.

The academy (NIRELA) is part of DepEd NIR's continuing initiative to develop aspiring and emerging school leaders' in the region.

IN PHOTOS | 10 NIR TechVoc Teachers begin Rotary District 3850-Sponsored EIM Training in South Korea

Ten (10) Technical-Vocational (TechVoc) teachers from the Negros Island Region (NIR) together with 8 Scholars from Western Visayas are now in South Korea to participate in a Rotary District 3850-sponsored scholarship program on Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) ag the Daegu Technical High School in Daegu, South Korea, from January 8 to 30, 2026.

The month-long vocational training aims to enhance the participants’ technical competencies, expose them to advanced industry practices, and strengthen their capacity to deliver quality TechVoc instruction aligned with global standards. The program also promotes international collaboration and professional exchange in the field of electrical installation and maintenance.

Representing various Schools Division Offices (SDOs) in the region, the NIR participants include:

* SDO Bais City – Marlon A. Manzo
* SDO Bayawan City – Fedencio N. Austero, Jr.
* SDO Dumaguete City – Nedilco R. Pagbunocan

This international training opportunity reflects the continued commitment of the Department of Education and its partners, particularly Rotary, to strengthening Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through global exposure and skills upgrading.

Upon completion of the program, the scholars are expected to cascade their learnings to fellow teachers and students, contributing to improved instruction, industry relevance, and workforce readiness of learners in the Negros Island Region.*

WATCH | Paugnat sa Kusog Plus officially launched on January 13, 2026!

This wellness initiative is part of the Employee Welfare Program of DepEd NIR theough the Human Resource Development Division will be conducted every Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30–5:30 PM.

This is designed to promote holistic well-being through physical, creative, and psychosocial activities that build strength, resilience, and camaraderie among personnel. It supports the mantra “For every learner, we rise” by nurturing a healthy and motivated workforce.

The first session focused on expressing oneself through improvisation, facilitated by Raffy L. Berina, OIC–EPS, Human Resource Development Division, setting the tone for a wellness program that strengthens confidence, creativity, and connection.
