‎𝐃𝐈𝐕. 𝐍𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐒𝐄 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇

‎Nurse and doctors from the Cluster 1 of Division of Negros Occidental conducted the symposium on adolescence reproductive and mental health to the students of Sofronio Carmona Memorial National High School ,yesterday,March 17.

The speakers from nurses from Calatrava 1 and Calatrava 2, Shelah Espuerta and Kendal Sabando,highlighting important information about HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, including how these are transmitted and prevented.

Moreover, emphasized that anyone, regardless of age, gender, or social status, can be affected, while also promoting abstinence and informed choices to reduce risks.

“Our mental health is just as important as our physical health,”Ramona Marcellana,Nurse from Toboso, reminding students to take care of their overall well-being.

‎Eugeno Caliso ,nurse from Toboso also discussed on teenage pregnancy, encouraging students to avoid early sexual activity and prioritize their future.
Students were reminded that both HIV and teenage pregnancy are preventable through proper knowledge, self-control, and awareness.

Furthermore, Liezel Nicolas,Nurse In-Charge in the Division of Negros Occ., reiterated that bullying or any kind of violence, inside and outside the school.

‎Through this symposium, SCMNHS reinforced the importance of making responsible decisions and staying informed to protect students health and well-being.

SCMNHS Celebrates Love Through Songs

Sofronio Carmona Memorial National High School celebrated Valentine’s Day by holding a “Feb-IBIG” Singing Contest at the school gym on February 16.

Even though it was held a little late, the event still showed the amazing talents of Sofronians in singing, music, and creativity.

The program started with an opening prayer led by Angela Sicat followed by an intermission number from the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers to entertain the audience.

After that, SSLG President Cyrene Joy gave her opening remarks and welcomed the students, teachers, and visitors who attended the event.

Jirah Claveras read the criteria and mechanics for the solo category before the competition began; there were 13 contestants in the solo category, the judges were teachers Gerald Nivera, Noblen Sumido, and Lora Abellar.

The same judges also judged the duet category, which had four pairs of contestants, Jessa Morden read the criteria and mechanics before the duet contest started.

The event ended with the awarding of winners and the giving of certificates to the judges and tabulators after that everyone was thanked for helping make the FEB-IBIG Singing Contest a fun and successful celebration.

Through showing his consistent determination to win the game Labang won his championship match against Gilbert Zamora of Antique City; even though Zamora weighed more than him, still it did not stop Labang to show his skills inside the ring and beat him in their boxing match.

Motivation from his parents and coach, Ronald Belleza, has been Labang's strength to face his opponent "Sila ang gamotivate saakon kay sila man ang gahatag sakon sang advice kag plano kung paano ako madaog" Labang said, showing his gratefulness to his parents and coach who has been his constant motivation during the fig

He also added that his passion when it comes to boxing has motivated him to continue and do his best in every match that he faced.

Moreover, Labang did not just show his boxing techniques and winning streaks in "Bakbakan Sang Kabankalan Vl" but also in various matching events like the invitational boxing event in Escalante City where he won via unanimous decision, Nietes Promotion Invitational Boxing in the Municipality of Murcia won by knock out and a win by split decision in the Nietes promotion invitational boxing in Bacolod City.

Labang's continuous trainings and dedication helped him reach the peak of his victory; he had enjoyed the game and was happy to represent Don Salvador Benedicto and become one of its pride in boxing and at the end, his win has showcased what DSB can offer inside the boxing ring.

His boxing skill will be showcased in international ring 8 in Japan as he is now processing his documents and continuing his routine and training for his upcoming fight this February 4,2026.

SICAT, KAMPYON SA PAGSULAT

Nasungkit ni Angela Sicat ang unang medalya,sa kompetisyon ng Pagsulat ng Tula,na ginanap sa SCMNHS, ika-2 ng Disyembre, sa kasalukuyang taon--bilang bahagi ng Pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Pagbasa.

Isang makabuluhang tagumpay ang ipinamalas ni Angela ,ika-labing dalawang baitang, sa seksyon Earth, laban sa kanyang limang katunggali, na makikitaan ng kahusayang paggamit ng wika at imahinasyon, malalim na pag-unawa sa tema, at magaang daloy ng mga salita at ritmo.

Sa kabilang banda, pumapangalawa si Feliza Rebatado, ika-sampo na baitang, sa seksyon Sapphire, habang pumangatlo si Jonabel Buenaflor, ika-siyam na baitang , sa seksyon Narra.

Sa pangkalahatan, matagumpay na naidaos ang nasabing patimpalak ,at naibigay ang mga parangal sa mga tinanghal, kahapon,Disyembre 15.

Clarity and confidence in delivering the answer outthrew her opponents as Nellaine Rivera, Grade 11, dominat‎ed in Smart Talking Contest, as part of the National Reading Month 2025 ,held at SCMNHS,Dec.4.

‎The contest featured one representative from each grade level:7 to 12, giving students a chance to showcase their speaking skills.

Six participants competed ‎as Ayah Mae Navarro, Grade 9, earning second place and Jirah Claveras, Garde 8, finishing third spot.

‎Rivera’s victory highlighted her talent and dedication, while the event wrapped up the school’s National Reading Month activities, providing all participants with an enjoyable opportunity to practice public speaking and share their abilities.

Victory in Pair: Grade 12 Conquers the Literary and Grammar Quiz

Sheena Rose Indico and Via Ellah Toreno,both Grade 12, stole the spotlight securing the top spot in Literary and Grammar Quiz, in this year's National Reading Month, held at SCMNHS, Dec.2.

During the average round, Grade 11 students,Karen Rebatado and Clarence Villacencio led the level yet Shena Rose Indico and Via Ellah Toreno overthrew their opponents with a surprising comeback during the difficult round and finally claimed the first place title with a score of 18 points.

However, Cristine Engcoy and Mikaila Miravalles, both Grade 10, did not deter the advancement of seniors in Grade 11, claiming the second place.

Finally, the contest ended when Karen Rebatado and Clarence Villacencio had been placed in third spot.
