NEWS | Pontevedra National High School Bags Silver in Division Seal of Excellence 2026

The Silver Seal of Excellence was awarded to Pontevedra National High School on January 16, 2026, at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, during the Schools Division of Negros Occidental Seal of Excellence Awarding Ceremony.

The recognition places PNHS among the public secondary schools that met the Seal of Excellence 2025 standards, citing strong governance, effective service delivery, and sustained institutional improvement in line with the Department of Education’s core values.

Principal III, Ma’am Gene E. Espinosa was likewise conferred the Silver Seal Award for Leadership, recognizing her role in driving the school’s performance and strengthening systems that led to the institutional achievement.

The dual conferment underscores PNHS’s standing as a high-performing public school and reflects the collective efforts of its administrators, faculty, staff, learners, parents, and stakeholders across the District of Pontevedra I.

𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | Pamplona Pontevedra Bagged Gold in Division Futsal

The Pontevedra National High School futsal team clinched the championship title at the Division Futsal Meet, earning a spot in the Provincial Meet dominating their matches against Cluster teams from La Castellana, Calatrava, Ilog, and E.B. Magalona, posting victories with scores of 10–3, 25–1, 11–0, and 16–0.

The Division Meet Futsal was held at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University in Talisay City on December 16, 2025, where the team showcased exceptional teamwork, skill, and determination throughout the tournament.

NEWS | Helping Hand: Pontevedra National High School Launches Outreach Program at Trinidad Elementary School

In response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino, the PNHS English and Filipino Departments and The Lighthouse (Ang Parola), together with the Boy and Girl Scouts, teachers, Principal Ma’am Gene E. Espinosa, and other donors, collaborated to launch an outreach program for students, teachers, and families affected by the recent typhoon.

The program took place at 9:30 a.m. today at Trinidad Elementary School in Brgy. DSB, one of the most heavily impacted communities in Pontevedra.

Aside from the distribution of relief goods and food packs, the event also featured games with prizes to create a joyful atmosphere and storytelling with a Q&A session for children as part of the English Month celebration.

The activities highlighted the importance of compassion, kindness, and solidarity while reminding the community of the strength that comes from unity.

Thanks to the generous donations that exceeded expectations and to Ma’am Irene J. Bañez, who spearheaded the initiative, the program was made possible.

By extending a helping hand in times of need, Pontevedra National High School demonstrated the true spirit of education not only within the classroom but also within the community.
