๐๐๐๐ ๐๐: MSUN Recognized for Internationalization Milestones at CHED-X ASEAN Month Culmination
Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) joined higher education institutions across Northern Mindanao in celebrating the 59th ASEAN Founding Anniversary during the Regional 2026 ASEAN Month Culminating Activity and Regional Internationalization Awards held today, August 27, 2026, at the Tangub City Peopleโs Gymnasium in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.
Leading the MSUN delegation was Chancellor Dr. Elnor C. Roa, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Gergie A. Ambato, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Arleen B. Uy, MPA, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Benjoe Rey B. Visayas, Director of the Office of Global Engagement and Partnerships (OGEP); and Assoc. Prof. Rhoy F. Castillo, Campus Secretary.
Anchored on the Philippine ASEAN Chairship theme, โSetting Sail for ASEAN 2026: Navigating Our Future, Together,โ the regional celebration brought together higher education leaders and international relations representatives from institutions across Region X. The event reaffirmed the higher education sectorโs commitment to ASEAN cooperation, inclusive education, and sustainable, people-centered internationalization.
The celebration featured a Solidarity Parade of ASEAN Nations, followed by the culminating program and the Regional Internationalization Awards, which recognized higher education institutions and leaders for their contributions to internationalization and innovation.
MSUNโs Internationalization Milestones
During the awards ceremony, MSU at Naawan was recognized by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office X (CHED-X) for its continuing gains in internationalization and global visibility. The University was cited for its participation and inclusion in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) Global Top 500 Innovative Universities and the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings, reflecting MSUNโs growing presence in international university rankings and global higher education platforms.
The University and Chancellor Roa were also recognized for MSUNโs achievement as a Regional Qualifier in the Commission on Higher Educationโs Tourism Start-Up Challenge 2025. The recognition highlights the Universityโs continuing efforts to foster innovation and contribute to tourism, entrepreneurship, and regional development.
These distinctions underscore MSU at Naawanโs commitment to advancing meaningful international engagement while strengthening innovation, sustainability, research, and academic excellence. They also recognize the collective efforts of the Universityโs faculty, researchers, personnel, students, and partners in expanding MSUNโs presence and impact across regional and global platforms.
