In a world where the positions of journalists and media personnel are being undermined, we ask that you help us recognize the diligence and hard work they endure for the sake of our county.

With that, we encourage you to take time to indulge yourself with the information provided to us by our fellow Filipino journalists. Let us remain educated and aware by reading up on important content in our newspapers, television, radio and the internet.

Journalists and media personnel around the world, most especially in our country, have been risking their lives to deliver a steady flow of reliable information not only during this global pandemic, but also during numerous past crises. Over the past few weeks, a bigger threat shadowed over our journalists. Not until recently, their roles have often been undermined. After the recent Rappler case and ABS-CBN shutdown, the position of journalists and media personnel have become increasingly unsteady. It is imperative that each of us recognize the consistency of our journalists and the different media platforms that offer significant knowledge and information on current events.

As we reach the last day of our series, we would like to thank everyone who participated. Our goal in Woodrose TedEd is to simply be able to voice out concerns and opinions of students and teachers of our own.

Our last two interviewees, Chin-Chin Quililan and Sophia Alcabao manifests the disappointment of our fellow countrymen. Is โ€œa haunting echo of an era thought to be long goneโ€ rising back up on its feet? There has always been a hidden threat towards the media, and the shutdown has just reminded us about all that.

Once again, thank you to all who have been involved in this. For the readers, thank you as well for hearing us out.

Day 3 of our series!

In light of the recent ABS-CBN shutdown, Woodrose TedEd would like to give recognition to ALL journalists and media personnel who aim to spread truth and knowledge despite the risks that come with their job. In trying times like this, we would like to highlight these very people for their consistent contribution towards our nation. With this, we decided to interview students and teachers from PAREF Woodrose and had asked them to share their opinion on the shutdown of ABS-CBN and how it highlights the media's role in society.

The responses of the interviewees mainly highlight the anger and rage that most Filipinos are now experiencing due to how quick the process was of shutting down the said network. The way this issue was handled given the already difficult situation with COVID-19 and many being left unemployed, it is best to believe that ABS-CBN was the nationโ€™s way to have their voices heard and acknowledged as well as have access to daily entertainment and news. It also encapsulates the idea that our democracy is compromised in a way. The stories of Filipinos who were reached out to by the government with the help of the media, now no longer come to light because their avenue of self expression has been shut down. Filipinos realize the importance of truth and freedom when speaking on certain issues. The shutdown highlights the injustice of the filipino government towards the people, as many are losing their jobs in order for a person of high power to gain the praise and money that the employees work day and night to help their own struggling families have a place to live, and money to have access to the basic needs of a human.
