The Distance, Open, and Transnational University (DOT-Uni) underwent a comprehensive internal audit today, July 31, 2026, via Zoom, covering all of its academic programs. The audit was led by Internal Auditor Dr. Cesar V. Ortinero, with Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) Dean Dr. Alona T. Badua serving as lead auditee, reflecting the DOT-Uni's continuing effort to strengthen academic quality, institutional compliance, and accountability across its programs.

The audit brought together all of DOT-Uni's Department Chairs, along with DOT-Uni personnel. Those in attendance were Dr. Roann P. Alberto-Lao, Department Chair of Business Administration; Dr. Mari Joy M. Buenavista, Department Chair of Agri-Management; Dr. Andrea May C. Malonzo, Department Chair of Communication and Development Studies; Dr. Regidor G. Gaboy, Department Chair of Education Policy and Practice; Dr. Edwin D. Ibaรฑez, Department Chair of Science Education; and Dr. John Paulo C. Sacdalan, Department Chair of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

The audit closely examined several key components of program delivery to ensure that academic standards are being consistently met across all programs. Auditors reviewed course syllabi, with particular attention to the intended number of weeks allotted for course coverage, to confirm that instruction is proceeding according to plan.

In addition, the audit looked into classroom assignments for courses offered this semester, together with the faculty members assigned to teach them, to confirm that scheduling and staffing records are accurate and up to date.

A significant part of the audit focused on the DOT-Uni's use of the CANVAS Learning Management System (LMS). Despite an earlier memorandum mandating the use of CANVAS for the current semester, the audit found that some faculty members have yet to begin using the platform. In response, each Department Chair was asked whether they are able to monitor their faculty tutors' compliance, specifically whether classes have already commenced using the prescribed LMS.

Department Chairs were likewise asked to confirm that the list of faculty tutors within their respective departments is properly aligned with the programs they are assigned to teach, helping ensure that teaching assignments are accurately recorded and consistent with actual classroom practice.

Following the audit proper, a closing meeting will be held where the auditors and auditees will present and discuss the observations and findings gathered throughout the process. This meeting is expected to give department chairs and DOT-Uni Personnel a clear picture of areas that are performing well, as well as areas that may need corrective action.

The conduct of this comprehensive internal audit highlights DOT-Uni's continuing commitment to upholding academic quality, ensuring institutional compliance, and promoting accountability across all of its programs.
