Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Quality Assurance Office, successfully completed the five-day online survey visit of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc., held from July 6 to 10, 2026.

The survey visits formally opened on July 6 through an online program that brought together AACCUP accreditors, university officials, faculty members, and staff. The opening activities highlighted the University’s commitment to academic excellence, continuous quality improvement, and full cooperation throughout the accreditation process.

The evaluation covered four graduate programs: the Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling and the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Communication, both undergoing Level II accreditation, as well as the Master of Science in Rural Development and Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development, both undergoing Level IV, 2nd Cycle accreditation.

Throughout the survey visit, the accreditation teams conducted a comprehensive review of the programs’ documents, systems, processes, accomplishments, and supporting evidence. They also engaged with key stakeholders through interviews, consultations, and online validation sessions to assess the programs’ compliance with AACCUP standards and determine areas for further improvement.

The survey visit concluded on July 10 through a closing program featuring the presentation of the accreditors’ overall impressions, the University’s pledge of commitment, and the awarding of certificates of recognition to the members of the accreditation teams.

For the Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling, Prof. Dr. Leonora P. Varela, Team Leader, presented the team’s overall impressions and acknowledged the collective efforts of the program in sustaining quality graduate education. Meanwhile, Dr. Vanessah V. Castillo, Team Leader for the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Communication, discussed the program’s strengths and areas for enhancement. For the Master of Science in Rural Development and Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development, Dr. Emerson V. Barcellano, AACCUP Coordinator for Level IV, commended the programs’ commitment to instruction, research, extension, and continuous improvement.

The completion of the survey visit reflects CLSU’s sustained commitment to quality assurance, institutional accountability, and the continuous enhancement of its academic programs.

The Master of Science in Biology Education (MS BioEd) program of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has achieved another significant milestone after being awarded Level III Re-Accredited Status by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP).

This recognition shows our commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. The Level III Re-Accredited status is conferred upon programs that have consistently demonstrated high standards in instruction, faculty qualifications, research productivity, extension services, and local and international linkages, while maintaining a strong culture of quality assurance.

The MS BioEd program successfully satisfied all accreditation requirements, including the submission of comprehensive documentary evidence and full compliance with the recommendations of previous accreditation visits. It earned a grand mean score of 4.00, affirming the program's adherence to AACCUP's rigorous quality standards.

This achievement underscores CLSU's commitment to providing high-quality graduate education in the biological sciences and further strengthens the university's reputation as a premier institution for advanced learning, research, and innovation. Through the MS Biology Education program, CLSU continues to develop highly competent, research-driven, and globally competitive biology educators and professionals who are equipped with advanced scientific knowledge, pedagogical expertise, and a lifelong commitment to excellence in education.

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), held a Retooling Seminar on Janitorial Services: Strengthening Housekeeping, Documentation, Reporting, and Waste Management Practices at the RIE Amphitheater on June 25, 2026, bringing together janitorial personnel to further enhance their competencies and strengthen quality service delivery across the university.

The seminar commenced with an opening program highlighted by a prayer led by Ms. Elena P. Erang of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) Division. This was followed by the Statement of Purpose delivered by Dr. Cheryl G. Ramos, Director of the Administrative Services Office, who emphasized the importance of continuously equipping janitorial personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a clean, safe, and quality-driven university environment.

An inspirational message was subsequently delivered by Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Vice President for Administration, who underscored the vital role of janitorial personnel in supporting the university’s operations and upholding service excellence. He encouraged participants to embrace continuous learning and remain committed to quality service.

The first technical session featured “Quality-Assured Waste Management Practices,” presented by Asst. Prof. Daryl A. Juganas, Chief of the Environmental Management Division of the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Management (CCCEM). During his presentation, he discussed proper waste segregation, environmental sustainability initiatives, and best practices in waste management that contribute to a cleaner and healthier campus.

An interactive discussion followed the presentation, during which participants raised questions and concerns related to waste management practices. These were thoughtfully addressed by Dr. Gela Patria L. Abella, Director of the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Management (CCCEM), who provided further clarification and practical insights on the topics discussed.

Participants then attended a session on the “Importance of Documentation and Orientation on Standard Forms and Logbooks,” facilitated by Dr. Joan C. Ravago, Chief of the Quality Management Systems Division. She highlighted the significance of accurate documentation, proper reporting procedures, and the use of standard forms and logbooks in ensuring accountability, traceability, and compliance with quality management standards.

To reinforce the concepts discussed, Dr. Ravago also facilitated a guided workshop entitled “Identification of Areas and Accomplishment of Forms and Logbooks Using Workplace Scenarios.” The workshop provided participants with hands-on experience in completing documentation requirements using realistic workplace situations, enabling them to apply their learning in practical settings.

The seminar concluded with a Synthesis of Learning and Commitment Setting, where participants reflected on the key insights gained from the sessions and identified specific actions, they would undertake to improve their work performance and service delivery.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Rhodora I. Dela Rosa, Director of the Quality Assurance Office, expressed her appreciation to the participants, resource speakers, and organizers for their active engagement and support. She emphasized that the knowledge and skills gained from the seminar would contribute to more efficient, organized, and quality-assured janitorial services within the university.

The retooling seminar reaffirmed CLSU’s commitment to fostering a culture of quality, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement among its personnel, recognizing the indispensable role of janitorial staff in maintaining a conducive learning and working environment for the entire university community.

The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) successfully conducted an Internal Mock Accreditation on June 22, 2026, as part of the University's preparations for the upcoming Accreditation of State Universities and Colleges in the Philippines (AACCUP) Program Accreditation survey visits. The activity covered four academic programs: the Master of Science in Guidance Counseling and Doctor of Philosophy in Development Communication, both preparing for their Second Survey Visit, and the Master of Science in Rural Development and Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development, which are set to undergo their Fourth Survey Visit (Second Cycle).

The mock accreditation aimed to assess the completeness and organization of documentary evidence, evaluate compliance with AACCUP standards, and identify areas for improvement before the formal survey visit. Through this initiative, CLSU reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that its academic programs continue to meet the highest standards of quality and excellence.

The internal evaluation was facilitated by a pool of experienced accreditors composed of Dr. Dana G. Vera Cruz, Lead Accreditor for the Master of Science in Guidance Counseling, together with Dr. Jeffrey A. Lavarias and Dr. Judith R. Angeles; Dr. Regidor G. Gaboy, Lead Accreditor for the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Communication, with Dr. Joel M. Torres and Dr. Joan C. Ravago as members; Dr. Irene G. Bustos, Lead Accreditor for the Master of Science in Rural Development, assisted by Assoc. Prof. Geraldine G. Tayag and Engr. Joseph Frank A. Nagal; and Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, Lead Accreditor for the Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development, together with Dr. Eduard C. Taganap and Engr. Mary Grace J. De Guzman.

According to the QAO, the Internal Mock Accreditation serves as a crucial component of CLSU’s continuous pursuit of quality education, academic excellence, and institutional improvement. By proactively evaluating program readiness and strengthening areas that require enhancement, the University ensures its preparedness for the official AACCUP survey while reinforcing its commitment to nurturing a culture of excellence and delivering quality education that meets national and international standards.

The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) successfully conducted the "Risk Management System (PQA-Aligned) Towards EOMS Transition: 2-Day Capacity Building Workshop for Auditees" on June 10–11, 2026, at the RIE Amphitheater. The activity gathered executive committee members, deans, directors, office heads/chiefs, and department chairs to strengthen institutional risk management practices and support the University's transition toward the Educational Organizations Management System (EOMS).

Dr. Joan C. Ravago, Chief of the Quality Management Systems Division, delivered the Statement of Purpose, emphasizing the significance of adopting a proactive and systematic approach to risk management as part of the University's quality assurance initiatives.

An inspirational message was delivered by University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, who underscored the importance of risk-based thinking and continuous improvement in achieving institutional excellence and sustaining a culture of quality.

The first day featured a series of lectures facilitated by Dr. Ronan G. Zagado, who discussed topics on Risk-Based Thinking: A Review and Analysis of Context Risks, Risk Management Communication, Risk Management Framework, and Risk and Opportunity Identification and the Risk and Opportunity Register. These sessions provided participants with practical knowledge and strategies for identifying, assessing, and managing risks across various university processes.

In the afternoon, participants engaged in workshop sessions focusing on the development of Risk Management Portfolios and Risk Management Procedures. Dr. Zagado served as Lead Facilitator, assisted by workshop facilitators assigned to the various programs. The day concluded with the awarding of a certificate and a closing message from Dr. Rhodora I. Dela Rosa, Director of the Quality Assurance Office.

The second day commenced with a recap of Day 1 delivered by Mr. Junior M. Pacol, Chief of the Program Quality Assurance Division. Technical sessions on the second day covered essential topics related to quality assurance and auditing. Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo discussed the roles and responsibilities of auditees during audits, while Dr. Joan C. Ravago provided an overview of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 21001:2025. Ms. Loida A. Gurion, Chief of the Records Division, shared insights on Documented Information and Records Management.

Further enriching the participants' understanding, Dr. Cesar V. Ortinero presented "Understanding Your Process Through Internal Audit: A Process Approach for Improved Performance and Results," while Dr. Cheryl G. Ramos discussed "Fixing Workflow Gaps: Process Mapping and Alignment for Efficient Office Operations." The final technical session, led by Dr. Ravago, focused on the preparation of the Risk and Opportunity Register and the Table of Interested Parties.

The workshop concluded with the awarding of certificates to resource speakers, followed by the Ways Forward and Closing Remarks delivered by Dr. Dela Rosa. In her message, she emphasized the collective responsibility of all university stakeholders in institutionalizing risk management and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Through this two-day capacity-building workshop, the University reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening risk management practices and ensuring a smooth transition toward EOMS, paving the way for enhanced organizational effectiveness and sustained excellence in delivering quality education and services.

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), conducted the Capacity Development Workshop for the Technical Working Group (TWG), College and Department QA Coordinators, Department Chairs, and Program Coordinators for Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Program Accreditation on June 4, 2026, at Undan Hall, Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT).

The workshop gathered university personnel involved in quality assurance and accreditation to enhance institutional readiness for upcoming AACCUP accreditation activities. The activity focused on the identification, consolidation, organization, and management of university, college, and program-level evidence required under the AACCUP Master Survey Instrument for Levels I and II accreditation.

The program opened with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and a prayer, followed by welcome remarks from Dr. Rhodora I. Dela Rosa, Director of the Quality Assurance Office. She emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in sustaining the University's commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Mr. Junior M. Pacol, Chief of the Program Quality Assurance Division, presented the workshop rationale and objectives. He highlighted the initiative's goal of establishing a centralized, accessible repository of accreditation evidence to support current and future accreditation activities and to improve efficiency across colleges and departments.

Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, Chief of the Institutional Quality Assurance Division, facilitated the workshop proper. Participants reviewed accreditation requirements, identified documentary evidence, and discussed strategies for organizing and maintaining evidence repositories aligned with AACCUP standards.

During the afternoon session, representatives from the ten areas presented their outputs, updates, and recommendations. These presentations encouraged the sharing of best practices, identification of gaps, and alignment of efforts toward accreditation readiness.

The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Joan C. Ravago, Chief of the Quality Management Systems Division, who commended the participants for their active participation and commitment to quality assurance.

Through this initiative, CLSU further strengthened its quality assurance mechanisms and reinforced its commitment to academic excellence, continuous improvement, and successful accreditation outcomes.

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) proudly announced that several of its faculty members and academic leaders have been selected as members of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office III (CHEDRO III) Deputized Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) for 2026.

The recognition was formalized through CHEDRO III Regional Memorandum No. 99, series of 2026, titled “ACHIEVE-ing Excellence: Strengthening Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) Members’ Competence in Program and ETEEAP Evaluation,” released on May 18, 2026.

The selected CLSU representatives were chosen based on their expertise, competencies, integrity, and relevant professional experience in various academic disciplines. They will assist CHEDRO III in the evaluation of higher education program applications and quality assurance initiatives across the region.

Among the deputized RQAT members from CLSU are Dr. Pablo Rafael Jr. for Agribusiness/Business/Entrepreneurship, Dr. Jeffrey Lavarias for Agricultural Engineering, Dr. Maria Luisa Tabing for Agriculture, Dr. Alona Badua for Agriculture-Vetmed, and Dr. Florante Ibarra for Education, Music, Graduate Program: Educational Management, Development Education.

Also included are Dr. Lorenz Fajardo for Environmental Science, Dr. Emil Ubaldo for Language Education, Dr. Garry Benico for Marine Biology, Dr. Jay Santos for Psychology, Dr. Regidor Gaboy for Teacher Education, and Dr. Jumel Miller for Teacher Education (BPED).

The orientation/reorientation activity for the deputized evaluators was successfully conducted on May 25, 2026, at National University Clark, located at SM City Clark in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.

The participation of CLSU faculty members in the CHEDRO III RQAT further strengthens the university’s commitment to quality assurance, academic excellence, and continuous improvement in higher education. Through their expertise and service, the university continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of quality education in Region III and beyond.
