The CLSU Intellectual Property and Innovation Management Division (IPIMD), in partnership with the CLSU Gender and Development Office, will conduct “IPIMD: IP in the Making, Diversified! A GAD-Responsive Intellectual Property Creation and Invention Training” on September 29–30, 2026, at the CHRRIM RC Undan Hall.

The two-day training will help participants examine their existing and ongoing research and projects for possible invention opportunities and explore how future research may be designed with greater potential for patentability, utilization, and commercialization.

The activity is intended for selected faculty members from the identified academic units, with priority given to those who have not yet filed a patent or utility model application.

𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗵𝗮, 𝗸𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗴-𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗣.

This July 2, 2026, the Intellectual Property and Innovation Management Division, under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension, will conduct HANAP: Honing Analytical Navigation for Assessing Prior Art from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at CBA Room 109.

The activity is part of the Innovation Generation Program and is designed to guide iGEN Project Leaders in finding relevant prior art, understanding novelty and patentability, and identifying possible IP opportunities from their technologies and research outputs.

Because in innovation, it is not enough to create. We must also know what already exists, where our work stands, and how it can become protectable, strategic, and ready for greater impact.

The 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗜) held a coordination meeting with the𝗖𝗟𝗦𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗣𝗜𝗠𝗗) to discuss intellectual property concerns related to instructional materials development, review, copyright registration, and publication on June 15, 2026.

The in-person meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Marah Kathleen F. Valimento, Chief of IPIMD; Assoc. Prof. Mark Gill M. Mercado, In-Charge of the Instructional Materials Development Support Unit; and Assoc. Prof. Bryan Caesar L. Felipe, OLOI Secretary.

The meeting clarified key concerns on copyright application, ownership, and protection of instructional materials, particularly those developed using university resources or intended for publication and broader institutional use. IPIMD shared that it may assist authors and concerned offices in processing copyright applications and related documentation.

The discussion also covered the role of CERDS as publisher and the need for coordination with IPIMD when instructional materials involve copyright, ownership, third-party content, or other intellectual property concerns. IPIMD also expressed its willingness to provide a representative who may serve as part of the instructional materials review process, particularly for IP-related matters. The meeting further opened possible research directions on instructional materials development.

Through the coordination meeting, OLOI and CLSU IPIMD emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration to ensure that instructional materials developed within the university are properly reviewed, documented, protected, and aligned with institutional intellectual property policies.

Central Luzon State University, through the Intellectual Property and Innovation Management Division under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension, held the Executive Forum on Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Governance at CLSU on June 16, 2026, at the CLSU Academic Affairs Amphitheater.

With the theme “From Policy to Practice,” the forum gathered members of the CLSU Administrative Council for a strategic discussion on intellectual property, technology transfer, innovation governance, and research commercialization.

The forum was graced by Mr. Adrian H. Sablan, Division Chief of the Intellectual Property Management and Technology Transfer Division, Documentation, Information, and Technology Transfer Bureau of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, who served as the resource speaker.

Mr. Sablan shared national-level perspectives on how higher education institutions can translate IP policies into functional systems, institutional decisions, and actual practice. His discussion emphasized the value of intellectual property not only as a tool for protection but also as a strategic asset for research utilization, commercialization, partnerships, and public service.

The activity strengthened executive-level appreciation of the role of university leadership in building an enabling environment for innovation. It also served as an important step in aligning institutional direction with the practical demands of IP management and technology transfer.

The forum forms part of CLSU’s continuing efforts to strengthen its intellectual property and innovation ecosystem. More capacity-building activities and trainings are set to be conducted this year to further support University officials, researchers, inventors, creators, and technology generators.

Through this initiative, CLSU continues to move from policy to practice in advancing a stronger culture of intellectual property, technology transfer, and innovation across the University.
