If computer science were to reach its full and ethical potential, it must recognize that the world of logic, proofs, computation, data, and tech is far more diverse than it currently reflects. The field has an illustrious roster of LGBTQIA+ innovators and thinkers and that history shall always be remembered. The UPV Komsai.Org as a whole are an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and call for the recognition of their rights to love, to live, and to be themselves.
The UPV Komsai celebrates its LGBTQIA+ members with no reservation. They are some of the most hardworking, talented, brave, and intelligent people an organization could wish to have. The home of the visuals would not look stunning without them, and we strive to be a safe, accepting, and loving space for all regardless of their SOGIE. We strive to be an example to other computer science and IT student organizations when it comes to not just excellence, but also diversity and acceptance.

URING MAGSASAKA, PANGUNAHING PWERSA!
There are many barriers to complete industrialization of agriculture in the Philippines, the technology being hampered due to various but interrelated factors. The Philippinesโ agricultural system is not industrialized like many other countries, not because of a lack of willingness to do so, but because of the lack of systems in place to support our farmers to have the means to adopt the equipment to increase agricultural productivity and quality. In the semi-feudal framework which our farmers work under, profit is prioritized over sustainability and food security. Furthermore, the majority of our farmers do not own the land that they work on, and have to pay a rent, tribute, and/or a part of their harvest to landlords.
Our current semi-feudal framework puts our food security at risk. The Philippines is currently the top rice importer of the world despite having enough farmland to supply enough rice for its entire population and then some. Our industries are backwards and there is no room for industrialization. In the midst of the ever worsening climate crisis, the rampant corruption under the bureaucratic-capitalist state, foreign and imperialist exploitation, and the state violence perpetrated on farmers, we must continue to push for genuine agrarian reform.
We believe that technology has the power to uplift and improve lives. In a system that resembles that of the middle-ages, there is a stark contradiction. We must recognize the injustice of the hands feeding us going hungry. The workers, the youth, the studentry, and all other sectors of our society depend on the farmers to fill our basic need to eat. And until now, they are neglected and destitute. To secure our future, the peasantry and the indigenous peoples must be part of the equation, whereas landlordism, imperialist meddling, and profit-driven agriculture must be left out.
This peasants month, the UPV Komsai.Org will continue to advance and inform about the role of technology in supporting our farmers and indigenous peoples. We believe that technology should help all, including the marginalized, and that technologizing radical systematic change is an important step towards a more just and equitable society.
Pesante, mabuhay ka!
Genuine agrarian reform now!
