PGC Visayas welcomed a group of research partners for a courtesy visit and laboratory tour on April 24, 2026. The visit formed part of the second day of activities under the GIZ-supported project βCrabsolutely Zero: Promoting a Circular Model for Sustainable Valorization of Crustacean Waste,β implemented through the UP Visayas Foundation, Inc.
Representatives from GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fΓΌr Internationale Zusammenarbeit), together with members of the project team and participants from the Department of Science and Technology Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI), took part in the activity. During the afternoon session, the group joined a tour of several key research facilities across UP Visayas.
As part of the tour, the group made a stop at the Philippine Genome Center Visayas laboratories, where they were introduced to the facility and its research initiatives. The group was guided through the laboratories, with PGC Visayas URA Nadelene Faith Cartago and SRA Lee Genesis Mabaquiao assisting the visitors and facilitating the walkthrough of the facility.
The visit gave participants a better understanding of the research environment at UP Visayas and how the universityβs scientific capabilities support the broader goals of the CrabZero program.
