We are truly grateful to everyone who joined us last May 6 for the International Political Economy Forum: OFWs and the Economy βοΈ at the Leong Hall of Ateneo de Manila University π You have helped make the discussions more meaningful and relevant. Your presence and participation are deeply appreciated.
We also express our gratitude to Dir. Maria Teresa Delos Santos, Rhodora Abano, Dr. Peter Lee U, and Mr. Andrew Lacsina for their valuable insights π‘ about Filipino labor conditions in the international workforce. From the history of migration to present-day challenges, they helped us understand why many Filipinos still choose to work abroad, π along with the excellent opportunities and the risks that come with it. The forum highlighted how remittances πΈ have contributed to the Philippine economy throughout history yet revealed that many OFWs still encounter problems π which include limited savings, protection gaps, and difficult working conditions.
A special thank you to Father Chester A. Yacub for leading all the committees and making this forum possible ππ»
