The SDG 17 session, Ms. Eden Grace Lumilan deeply highlights that Partnerships should create synergies and shared intention to the global goals. In the midst of a crisis, cooperation becomes essential. The future is not solely in the hands of the government — it requires collective effort.🤝 We have to maximize our individual forces and powers to make transformative change in achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Ms. Lumilan emphasizes cooperation and coordinated action. “Progress is uneven” with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals but progress should be intentional and purposive to achieve transformative partnership in working with different partners to bring SDGs to life.

Partnerships don’t just end on paper — but rather an action taken in working around SDGs and leveraging strengths of that partners to bring the goals to realization. Likewise, to translate that action into the local reality🌱Thus, empowering people especially the vulnerable.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞. Youth should engage proactively in championing global goals and programs. True impact comes when we leverage, integrate, and drive system of transformation. Partnerships must be purposeful, and inclusive if we are to achieve the goals we set together. Without proper synergies, bridging this goal will not be possible. 🏛️🤝

In our SDG 16 session, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝗻 𝗤. 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗼 reminded us that peace and justice are not just about what’s happening inside courtrooms; it is also what should be practiced in our communities, where our youth and marginalized sectors speak out and practice their rights.

As Atty Earl highlighted, the Preamble is more than words — “The preamble is a promise.” It reminds us that “We the people” stand united, just as “We the peoples of the United Nations” come from different places but are crafted with the same goals.

It is a constitution grounded in moral values, crafted as a promise of justice and unity. As Atty. Earl says if we want to truly live by this promise, we must begin early: “Legal literacy must start young.” Because if we want to make a difference, we must involve ourselves early in legal literacy and in the creation of substantive policy. Moreover, youth participation must have a genuine voice in co-creating policies and co-creating future initiatives.

Let us lead the way to build institutions where young Filipinos can see that the law is accessible. As Atty Earl quotes, "𝐓𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭”; be part of the community of youth in policy-making and initiatives.

In our SDG 11 discussion, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗧. 𝗥𝗼𝗾𝘂𝗲 reminded us that sustainable cities and communities are not just all about infrastructure–this also involves just transition.

Ms. Jillian highlighted that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a universal framework for a better future, with an emphasis on ending poverty as a major global challenge. She noted that while the SDGs build on the Millennium Development Goals and are rooted in human rights, many objectives remain unmet, particularly in the Philippines, where poverty and inequality persist. The SDGs are closely tied to the daily struggles of Filipinos and advocate for improved policies through the principle of "Leaving No One Behind." Ms. Jillian underscored the role of unions and civil society in holding governments accountable to foster sustainable and inclusive communities, which feature green infrastructure and promote social equity and economic viability.

The discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals reminded us that development is more than policies and numbers—it is about people’s everyday lives. From housing, transportation, clean water, energy, and infrastructure to inequality and just transition, the challenges faced by communities reveal how far we still need to go in achieving inclusive and sustainable progress. As she quote, “𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁”

Let’s push for cities where everyone — especially our most vulnerable sectors — can truly belong and thrive. 🌏

For this year’s 𝐏𝐔𝐏 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦, we are bringing together two individuals whose work reflects the essence of SDG 17, demonstrating how collective action can turn commitments into concrete impact.

Leading the charge in youth engagement is 𝐌𝐬. 𝐄𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧, a seasoned development professional with over two decades of experience in sustainable development, strategic planning, and partnerships. From her early work at the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐍𝐄𝐃𝐀)
as the Philippine Government’s focal person for the Millennium Development Goals to her current role within the 𝑼𝑵 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔, she has been at the forefront of strengthening collaboration and development finance to support national global priorities. A proud alumna of the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, she graduated 𝐜𝐮𝐦 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 and later earned her 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Her work in coordinating multi-sectoral partnerships and provisioning strategic guidance across programs highlights the critical role of institutions in ensuring that development efforts are not only aligned but also inclusive and effective. 🌱✨

Together, she embody how 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 — from grassroots youth movements to high-level institutional coordination — proving that lasting change is achieved when diverse actors work together toward a common goal.

Justice is not sustained by institutions alone; it is shaped by those who challenge, reform, and uphold them with integrity.

As 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐨 demonstrates, ethical governance begins with action—where law, leadership, and public service intersect to create systems that truly serve the people. ✍️🏅

At just the age of 25, Atty. Padayao was admitted to the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫 after only three months of review. In addition, he’s now serving as a 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 at 𝐆𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐰, a leading Philippine firm located in Metro Manila. Meanwhile, he’s actively lobbying for policy reforms in the both chambers of Congress.

Beyond the legal practice, he’s a 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫, currently teaching 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐞 𝐋𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞-𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞, and mentoring the next generation of leaders as well as advocates across the country. 🖋️✨

Given his promising performance, his leadership extends to the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 - 𝐑𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐒𝐌 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫, where he serves as 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, contributing to one of the largest legal communities in the nation. Wherein, his work is grounded in both experience and excellence, from his early engagements in prosecution and the judiciary, to his active involvement in student leadership, governance, and international legal platforms such as the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐂. 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐩 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
