The study provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global research on microbial fermentation in coffee processing, highlighting publication trends, influential authors and institutions, collaborative research networks, and emerging technological directions. Findings reveal the growing importance of controlled fermentation, microbial starter cultures, and advanced analytical techniques in improving coffee quality, flavor development, and specialty coffee production.

This international publication contributes valuable insights to the fields of agricultural innovation, food biotechnology, microbial sciences, and sustainable coffee production. It further strengthens DSSC’s commitment to advancing high-impact research, global scholarly engagement, and knowledge generation that supports sustainable agricultural development and innovation.

The Editorial Office of The Palawan Scientist is pleased to announce that the journal has officially adopted the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform for manuscript submission, peer review, editorial processing, and communication with authors and reviewers.
This transition is part of our continuing efforts to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of the journal's publication process.

Effective June 18, 2026, all new manuscript submissions must be made through the OJS platform. Submitting authors are required to create an account by clicking the "Register" button before submitting their manuscripts. The previous Google Form submission system has been discontinued and will no longer be used for new submissions.

Important Information for Authors with Existing Submissions
Authors who have previously submitted manuscripts through the Google Form system do not need to resubmit their manuscripts. All existing submissions remain under consideration and will be managed through the OJS platform.

To facilitate this transition, authors with ongoing submissions will receive an email containing their OJS account credentials and instructions for accessing the system. Once their accounts have been activated, all future communications regarding their manuscripts—including editorial decisions, revision requests, reviewer comments, and publication updates—will be conducted exclusively through OJS.

This publication represents a significant contribution to coastal ecosystem research, offering valuable insights into mangrove community structure, biodiversity, aboveground biomass, and carbon sequestration potential in unprotected and vulnerable coastal zones of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. Co-authored by researchers from Davao del Sur State College and partner institutions, the study underscores the critical role of mangrove forests in climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable coastal resource management. Beyond advancing scientific knowledge, the findings highlight the importance of mangrove ecosystems in strengthening coastal resilience and supporting evidence-based approaches to environmental protection.

Through this scholarly endeavor, Ms. Sante and Prof. Pucot exemplify the DSSC Graduate School’s commitment to high-quality, impactful, and globally recognized research that addresses pressing environmental concerns. This achievement further reflects how graduate-level research can generate meaningful contributions toward environmental sustainability, ecosystem conservation, and policy-relevant solutions for coastal communities.

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) continues to strengthen its position in the field of research after securing the 2nd spot among State Colleges in the Philippines based on the 2026 Scopus Outputs ranking released by Global Health Focus (GHF) on May 19, 2026.

The ranking highlighted the research productivity of public institutes and colleges across the country through the number of research publications indexed in the Scopus database. DSSC recorded eight (8) Scopus-indexed outputs for 2026, placing the College second nationwide among state colleges and universities included in the list.

The College also posted an overall total of 37 Scopus-indexed research outputs from 2022 to 2026, reflecting its continued commitment to research development, innovation, and knowledge generation. The result demonstrates the growing contribution of DSSC faculty members, researchers, and students in producing studies that address academic, environmental, and community concerns.

This achievement is attributed to the College’s strengthened research culture through continuous faculty development, research capability trainings, collaborative research initiatives, and institutional support for publication and presentation activities. DSSC also continues to expand opportunities for student participation in research and innovation programs.

As the College sustains its momentum in research productivity, DSSC remains committed to producing relevant and impactful studies that contribute not only to academic advancement but also to community development and nation-building.
