Published in 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗮, a leading international journal in botanical taxonomy, the study presents a comprehensive taxonomic reassessment of Schismatoglottis warburgiana, a poorly known Philippine endemic plant species originally described in 1898 and subsequently overlooked for more than a century.

Recent fieldwork in southern Mindanao led to rediscovering the species and reassessing its taxonomy through comparisons with type and historical specimens. The study offers an updated morphological description, second-step lectotypification, revised distribution, and conservation status, confirming its placement in Schismatoglottis sensu stricto. It highlights the importance of integrative taxonomic revision, herbarium research, and continued field exploration in resolving Philippine plant diversity uncertainties, contributing to the documentation, conservation, and understanding of the country’s endemic flora.

This publication reflects Davao del Sur State College’s commitment to biodiversity research, scientific excellence, and conservation-oriented scholarship, while strengthening the institution’s international research presence. It further demonstrates how collaborative research can contribute to the discovery, documentation, and protection of the Philippines’ rich biological heritage.

Published in the 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻), the study explores the experiences and support needs of female persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who participated in the Education Behind Bars (EBB) program implemented by Davao del Sur State College in a correctional facility in the Philippines.

Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study highlights education’s transformative role in the rehabilitation and reintegration of PDLs, showing how the Education Behind Bars program improved participants’ academic performance, self-confidence, and motivation despite challenges such as learning difficulties and limited resources. The study recommends strengthening correctional education through peer mentoring, digital learning, career counseling, and post-release opportunities.

This publication reflects DSSC’s commitment to inclusive, transformative, and socially responsive education, while strengthening its international research presence and demonstrating how research can create meaningful opportunities for underserved communities.
