NASA has successfully launched four astronauts aboard its Artemis II mission on April 1, 2026 at 6:35 p.m., marking a historic return of human spaceflight to the Moon for the first time in over 50 years.
The mission lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, sending the crew on a 10-day journey around the Moon using the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft.
The astronauts onboardโReid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansenโwill travel farther into space than any human crew since the Apollo era. Their mission is not to land on the Moon, but to test critical systems and ensure that future missions can safely carry astronauts to the lunar surface.
โTodayโs launch marks a defining moment for our nation and for all who believe in exploration. Artemis II builds on the vision set by President Donald J. Trump, returning humanity to the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years and opening the next chapter of lunar exploration beyond Apollo. Aboard Orion are four remarkable explorers preparing for the first crewed flight of this rocket and spacecraft, a true test mission that will carry them farther and faster than any humans in a generation,โ said NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman.

The rising gasoline prices in the Philippines are not just numbers on a signboardโthey are a daily struggle for ordinary Filipinos. From commuters to jeepney drivers, from small business owners to families, everyone feels the impact. While the government has taken steps to respond, the situation shows a deeper problem that needs long-term solutions.
Recently, fuel prices have increased sharply. Gasoline prices were expected to rise by several pesos per liter, while diesel prices saw even bigger increases. These increases do not just affect driversโthey also raise transportation fares, food prices, and other basic goods. As a result, inflation rises and everyday living becomes more expensive.
The effects are especially hard on low-income groups. Jeepney and Tricycle drivers, for example, spend more on fuel but do not always earn more. In some cases, their daily income becomes very small or even insufficient because of high fuel costs. This shows how the crisis directly affects peopleโs livelihoods, not just the economy.
The government has tried to help by giving fuel subsidies, considering tax reductions, and encouraging energy-saving measures like online classes and work from home set-ups. While these actions offer temporary solution, they are not enough to solve the root cause of the problem.
The gasoline crisis reveals a bigger issue: the countryโs dependence on imported oil and lack of strong long-term energy strategies. While short-term solutions help, the government should focus more on developing renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. This can reduce dependence on foreign oil and protect the country from global price shocks.
If no long-term solutions are made, Filipinos will continue to suffer every time oil prices increase. This issue goes beyond economicsโit is about the daily survival of many citizens. The time to act is now, not just to manage the crisis, but to prevent it from happening again. In times like this, the country needs leadership that prioritizes sustainable solutions over temporary fixes. The choices made today will determine whether this crisis continues or is finally resolved.

Whenever I encounter women doing difficult jobs. I often hear things like, โTrabaho ina san lalaki,โ or "Dili ina kaya san babae.โ
That is false kay ang tinuodโWhatever a man can do, a woman can do tooโmas nindot pa, mas lig-on, ug puno sa kasingkasing. Dili gyud ta angay maminusan.
Kaniadto ingon sila sa mga babae na ada sa construction site ug mga babae na magdrive san sakyanan na, โpanlalaki ra na,โ but they always showed up skilled and proud. Gipakita nila na strength isnโt about genderโitโs about will.
Capability has no labelโbahala kinsa pa ka, basta kaya nimo, buhaton lang nimo og tarong.
People might underestimate us, pero mali sila. We have the best brains, hands, and hearts. Our potentials are not limited by genderโonly by what we let others say we canโt do.
Today, I stand tall and say, "Never underestimate women. We can do anything men can do, ug gibuhat naton kini uban ang grasya, kusog, ug gahum nga atoa ra gyud.
We are women. We are capable. We are enough. And thatโs our truthโdili gyud ta mapahilom.
HAPPY WOMEN'S MONTH!!
