Campus Feature: MSU-LNCAT Eagles Close MSUSAA Unity Games 2026 with 33 Medals and Special Recognitions
The MSUSAA Unity Games 2026 officially came to a close with a memorable closing ceremony held at Mindanao State University-Main Campus, Marawi City, capping off a week of system-wide sportsmanship and unity that ran from September 1 to 8. The event coincided with the host campus's founding anniversary celebration, doubling the festivities as thirteen constituent campuses of the MSU System gathered to honor the athletes and cultural bearers who made the games possible.
The MSU System President, Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA, graced the closing ceremony, leading the send-off of what has been a spirited display of camaraderie among MSU campuses. The games had opened on September 1 at the MSU Oval Grounds with cultural presentations and a grand fireworks display, setting the tone for the days of competition that followed.
For MSU-LNCAT, the closing ceremony was a moment of pride as the Eagles were recognized for their efforts, having clinched a total of 33 medals across various sporting events: 7 gold, 7 silver, and 19 bronze. The Eagles shone brightest in Pencak Silat, sweeping 7 gold medals, and added 3 silver and 7 bronze in Arnis, 2 silver and 4 bronze in Tae Kwon Do, 5 bronze in Karate, and 2 silver and 3 bronze in Athletics. In the newly-included eSports events, MSU-LNCAT athletes made their mark, securing top 3 spots in MLBB Women, and CODM Men and Women.
Beyond athletic achievement, MSU-LNCAT was also honored during the closing ceremony for its cultural contributions. The MSU-LNCAT Cultural Booth received a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize amounting to ₱30,000, while the MSU-LNCAT SKCE was awarded a plaque of appreciation and a cash prize for their outstanding cultural presentation during the Rawaten Cultural Presentation.
The Sports Coordinator of MSU-LNCAT, Mr. Al-Jameen M. G**o, extended his heartfelt appreciation for the support given by the whole MSU-LNCAT community throughout the games. Behind the scenes of the Eagles' journey and the institution's cultural triumphs lies the untiring guidance of the MSU-LNCAT administration led by Hadja Cairany D. Dia-Gandamra, RN, JD, DPA (CAR), together with its officials, faculty, and staff.
As the curtains closed on the MSUSAA Unity Games 2026, MSU-LNCAT carries home not just medals and recognitions, but renewed camaraderie and pride, a testament that the true spirit of unity lies in showing up, giving one's best, and celebrating every campus's shared journey.
