May 14โ16, 2026
The Art Appreciation and Purposive Communication students of RC-AKICFI-Main embarked on an educational field trip to Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, from May 14 to 16, 2026, accompanied by their teachers and student assistants. The activity aimed to deepen the studentsโ understanding of art, history, culture, and communication through meaningful real-life experiences beyond the classroom.
The journey began on the evening of May 14, when students gathered at the school for assembly and orientation. From 7:00 PM until midnight, preparations were completed before the group officially departed from Marawi City. The long journey was filled with excitement as everyone looked forward to the experiences awaiting them in Dapitan City.
Upon arriving in Dapitan, the group enjoyed a refreshing breakfast before proceeding to their first destination the historical site where Dr. Jose Rizal first arrived in Dapitan by boat during his exile. Students listened attentively to a brief discussion facilitated by the Leadership Institute student assistants, who shared important historical information about Rizalโs arrival and contributions to the community. The visit concluded with group photographs to commemorate the occasion.
The next destination was Dakak Park and Beach Resort, one of Dapitan Cityโs most famous attractions. Students enjoyed the breathtaking scenery, the relaxing sound of the sea, and the refreshing coastal atmosphere. The group participated in various recreational activities, including riding a banana boat, exploring the waters through a glass-bottom boat, tasting local specialties, and taking memorable photographs. The visit provided an opportunity for students to appreciate the beauty of nature while strengthening friendships and teamwork.
Afterward, the group visited the Rizal Shrine and Park, one of Dapitanโs most treasured historical landmarks. Here, students explored the place where Dr. Jose Rizal spent his years in exile. They learned about his daily life, achievements, educational initiatives, and the various contributions he made to the people of Dapitan. The visit allowed students to connect classroom lessons with actual historical sites, making their learning experience more meaningful and memorable.
For lunch, the group proceeded to Fantasyland Theme Park, where they dined at a restaurant known for its excellent food and quality service. The students greatly enjoyed the meals, describing them as highly satisfying and memorable. After lunch, the group was given free time to rest and relax for several hours before the attractions officially opened at 4:00 PM.
At exactly 4:00 PM, the excitement continued as the students explored Fantasyland Theme Park. They enjoyed various attractions, including Snow World, the 5D Cinema, theatrical performances, the Parade of Festivals, a spectacular Fireworks Display, the Horror House, and Lakbay Pinas. The park offered a unique blend of entertainment, culture, and adventure, creating unforgettable experiences for everyone. Laughter, excitement, and joy filled the day as students balanced learning with recreation.
After a fun-filled day, the group checked in at GFL Suites for a well-deserved rest. The comfortable accommodation provided an opportunity for everyone to recharge and reflect on the dayโs experiences.
Early in the morning of May 16, the group prepared for their return journey to Marawi City. Although their stay in Dapitan lasted only one night, the lessons learned and memories created will remain with them for years to come.
Beyond the beautiful destinations and exciting activities, the field trip taught students valuable lessons about teamwork, respect, responsibility, cooperation, and appreciation for culture and history. The success of the journey reflected the dedication of the faculty members, the support of the student assistants, and the active participation of the students themselves.
The Art Appreciation and Purposive Communication students would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Leadership Institute student assistants for their guidance and support throughout the trip. Their assistance helped ensure the safety, organization, and overall success of the educational tour. We are grateful for the opportunity to work together and create meaningful experiences for everyone involved.
This field trip was more than just a getaway, it was a meaningful educational journey that combined learning, adventure, cultural appreciation, and camaraderie into one unforgettable experience.
โTravel is not only about seeing new places; it is about gaining new perspectives. Through this journey, we learned that history comes alive when we experience it firsthand, art becomes meaningful when we appreciate its cultural roots, and communication grows stronger when we connect with people and places beyond the classroom. The memories we created may fade with time, but the lessons we learned will guide us for years to come.โ
