Solidaridad bookshop hosts a discussion on whether RA 1425 aka Rizal law is still relevant today ... of course it has its supporters who argue for this, and they have good points especially with the given educational crisis including in Philippine literature & history.

though we would suggest that maybe we should also give more attention & love to more of our classic literature & authors, as well as our other national heroes' lives & works (e.g. by Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Jacinto, Mabini & the other ilustrados / Propagandists like Plaridel & Graciano Lopez Jaena, not to mention our other heroes & other classic works in all other regions & eras of PH history.

it's the humble opinion at least of some of our admins that ... what if we expanded or superseded RA 1425 to become more inclusive, maybe generalise it to a "National Heroes education law"? as well as, of course, the proposed Index of Philippine Literary Heritage, to mandate & strongly encourage teaching & reading (and translation, adaptation, distribution etc.) of more classic PH literary works.

there's going to be a Tondo heritage tour focused on how Filipino authors depicted or saw Tondo in literature, in fiction, poetry etc.!
because literary heritage is of course part of Philippine heritage.

📚 𝗔𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗱𝗶𝗻!

Kapag narinig mo ang salitang Tondo, ano agad ang pumapasok sa isip mo?

Para sa marami, may iisang kuwento lang ang Tondo. Pero paano kung sabihin naming mas marami pa itong mga kuwentong matagal nang naisulat, naipahayag, at naipamana sa pamamagitan ng panitikan?

Inihahandog ng The Heritage Collective at Tondo Writers Workshop ang "𝗔𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗱𝗶𝗻!" Isang natatanging heritage walk na titingin sa Tondo sa pamamagitan ng mga nobela, tula, sanaysay, at iba pang akdang pampanitikan na nagbigay-buhay sa lugar na ito sa iba't ibang panahon at mula sa iba't ibang pananaw.

Sa bawat hinto, hindi lang natin pag-uusapan ang kasaysayan ng mga kalye at gusali. Babasahin din natin ang piling sipi mula sa mga akda at pagninilayan kung paano nakita, inilarawan, at naunawaan ng iba't ibang manunulat ang Tondo. Sa ganitong paraan, mas makikita natin kung paano nag-uusap ang heritage at literature sa paghubog ng pagkakakilanlan ng isang lugar.

Hindi layunin ng tour na sabihin kung alin ang "tamang" larawan ng Tondo. Sa halip, iimbitahan tayong makita ang lugar sa iba't ibang lente at perspektiba ng mga manunulat, habang iniuugnay ang mga ito sa kasaysayan at pamana ng komunidad.

Samahan ninyo kaming maglakad sa mga kalyeng minsang naging inspirasyon ng mga manunulat, at tuklasin ang isang uri ng pamana na madalas hindi napapansin: ang literary heritage. Dahil minsan, ang isang lugar ay hindi lang nabubuhay sa mga gusali at monumento, kundi pati sa mga kuwentong isinulat tungkol dito.
