CAFA GENERAL FACULTY MEETING

The College of Architecture and Fine Arts gathered for our General Faculty Meeting on August 17, 2026, tackling updates that will shape the college's direction moving forward.

On the agenda: the restructured CAFA Organizational Chart, the College Research Evaluation Committee, and ongoing College Extension Projects. Faculty also discussed our growing laboratory initiatives (SCHEMA FabLab, RED Nexus, and CUBE) alongside submission of the OBLT Plan, faculty loading, the revised IPCR/DPCR guidelines for 2026, and the rollout of our new Supervisory Plan.

A big thank you to our dedicated faculty for their continued commitment to excellence in architecture, interior design and fine arts education!

The college successfully held its seminar-workshop, "Empowering Faculty Advancement: CAFA Orientation on the Final CHED–DBM JC No. 3, s. 2022 Guidelines," on August 17, 2026 at CAFA Room 306.

Faculty members were guided through key topics including the DBM-CHED JC No. 1 s. 2026 IRR by Dr. Rodora T. Oliveros, Research Activities and Documentations by Engr. Jerome M. Saltorio, Extension Activities and Documentations by Dr. Eriberto R. Astorga Jr., and IMs Documentations by Dr. Joseph Mt. Moraca. The day concluded with an open forum and the College's General Faculty Meeting led by Dean Ar. Diane A. Jose.

This full-day capacity-building activity reflects CAFA's continued commitment to empowering our faculty for career advancement and academic excellence!

: Upon recommendation of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD), I am ordering the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools on Monday, August 10, 2026, due to inclement weather brought about by the southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by Tropical Cyclone Dolphin.

According to the MCDRRMD, the latest weather models and rainfall outlook from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicate rainfall tomorrow with intensity ranging from moderate to heavy, at times intense, particularly early in the morning and in the afternoon.

Schools are advised to shift to ADM or Alternative Delivery Mode.

DOST-PCIEERD conducted its Year 1, Quarter 2 Monitoring Visit for the IDP Project, SCHEMA FabLab, at the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA).

The second quarter marked a period of recovery and transition for the project, successfully progressing from procurement recovery toward the early stages of operationalization.

The Quarter 2 report was presented by Dean/Ar. Diane Jose, Project Leader, together with IDr. Mary Ann Capilitan, Project Staff. The activity was supported by Dr. Yolanda Lara, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Hiromi Kikuchi, Chief of Procurement Services; and Ms. Yuichi Sakaino, Chief of Property Management Services.

CAFA extends its heartfelt appreciation to the DOST–PCIEERD evaluators—Ms. Judy Mae G. Asis, Mr. Angelo Buenar B. Bayle, and Ms. Glenda Dorcas T. Sacbibit—for their valuable insights, recommendations, and continued support for the SCHEMA FabLab Project.
