In his latest State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. highlighted his administration's reported accomplishments, presenting them as milestones of national progress across governance, the economy, social welfare, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure.

The administration reported that the ๐ฝ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฝ๐๐๐๐จ program has already provided relief to more than 12 million Filipinos. Yet many families continue to struggle with the rising cost of food and other basic necessities. If these initiatives are already in place, why do so many Filipinos still find it difficult to put affordable food on the table?
The proposed ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ก๐๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐๐๐ก ๐๐ช๐ is expected to create quality jobs and strengthen the country's AI-driven economy. However, these projected benefits also raise serious environmental concerns. Large-scale AI and semiconductor industries require significant amounts of water and energy, potentially placing pressure on local water resources and surrounding ecosystems. Economic progress should never come at the expense of environmental sustainability and the welfare of affected communities.
Transparency is not measured by the existence of portals alone, but by whether corruption is genuinely prevented. Additional funds for local governments mean little if communities continue to struggle with inaccessible services. Assistance programs may provide relief, but many families continue to face rising prices, unstable livelihoods, and inadequate social protection.
A State of the Nation Address should not only recount accomplishmentsโ it should also be held accountable by the public. Every achievement deserves to be assessed not only through statistics, but through the lived experiences of the Filipino people.
Hindi sapat na may mga programang naipatupad kung hindi ito sapat na nararamdaman ng taumbayan. Ang tunay na sukatan ng pag-unlad ay kung mas magaan ba ang buhay ng mga Pilipino, mas abot-kaya ba ang mga pangunahing pangangailangan, at mas may dignidad ba ang pamumuhay ng bawat mamamayan.
