From small things come big happenings...

On the MSHSAC's 8th Anniversary, alumni and former advisers of the Manila Science High School Chorale discuss issues and plans for the organization and its beneficiaries.

The Manila Science High School Chorale Through the Years...

On this day, eight years ago, the Manila Science High School Alumni Chorale was founded by a small group of members and alumni, led by Batch 2005 President Jerricho Reynaldo and former conductor Florinda Agravante.

Yesterday, May 23rd, in celebration of their 8th Anniversary, the group ratified and adopted its new Constitution & Bylaws in a landmark 2015 General Meeting held at the Manila Science High School, with the guidance of its former mentors.

The Manila Science High School Chorale Through the Years...

Following its success in various competitions, the Manila Science High School Chorale has likewise mastered the art of the musical theater, having nurtured a love for it from within the school walls. Through the years, the group has performed excerpts from different musicals, from famous ones like "Cats" and "The Phantom of the Opera" to original MaScian compositions. Here, the Chorale is performing a short competition excerpt from "Les Miserables," for which the group won second prize in the Division contest.

For decades, the Manila Science High School Chorale has been a pride of the city, having shown the best of Manila in many events, presentations, and competitions. Here is the Chorale representing Manila in a cultural showcase spearheaded by the Department of Tourism. With the Chorale is choirmaster Mrs. Florinda Agravante and members of the Manila Science High School faculty, headed by Principal Mrs. Rosita Herson.

The Manila Science High School Alumni Chorale, on the occasion of its 8th Anniversary, invites all Members (current & former), Advisers & Choirmasters (current & former), and Friends of the Manila Science High School's Chorale, Glee Club, & Senior Choirs to the 2015 General Meeting of the Manila Science High School Alumni Chorale.

To be held on Saturday, the 23rd of May 2015, at one o'clock in the afternoon, at the Barotilla Hall of the Manila Science High School.

A number of times, due to special circumstances, the Chorale was split into sub-groups upon the demand of such things as contest mechanics -- it could be a chamber group, a quartet, an all-male, or in this case, an all-female group. This 2001 sub-choir was formed for a mid-year competition sponsored by a popular brand of female products.

During Commencement Exercises, it is tradition for the graduating members of the Manila Science High School Chorale to render an inspiring song number for the graduating batch, their parents, and the faculty of the Manila Science High School. This tradition is known as the Senior Choir, and here it is during the 2002 Commencement Exercises, led by Mrs. Florinda Agravante. For a short time, however, this tradition was discontinued in the early 2000s, before it was revived in the year 2007 under the leadership of Mrs. Jocelyn Carlos.

There are more of these command performances outside school, whisking the busy students away from the classrooms for a short while. Most performances were held in grand hotel ballrooms and stately government venues, for such functions as annual conventions and international celebrations, like in this photo, where the Chorale is in its formal blue & white costume.

On occasion, the Manila Science High School Chorale is requested to sing in special gatherings outside of the school. Here is the Chorale, in school uniform this time, in an intermission performance at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in the year 2000.

The Manila Science High School Chorale Through the Years...

The Manila Science High School Chorale is the premier performing group of the school, which means it is always on-call for in-school performance, be it in costume or in school uniform. Here is the Chorale more than a decade ago performing in the school auditorium (now the Alzona Hall), under the baton of Mrs. Flor Agravante.
