Since ancient times, Korean people made paper from tree and spread it westward toward Europe led by General Ko Son-ji and eastward to Japan by Buddhist priest Damjing, both from Koguryo -- one of the three kingdoms of Ancient Korea. Since the early days of the three kingdoms, Koreans made paper, called 'hanji' from a tree belonging to a genus of Broussonetia. They made it with their own skills and
used it in a variety of ways --- applying it in their daily lives. Only Korea is the country in the world where paper is applied even to floors, doors, ceilings, and others through various forms created by JONGIE JUPGI (PAPER FOLDING), Paper culture has been deeply associated with the aspects of daily life such as food, clothing, shelter, etc., that it left no place untouched in the Korean's necessities of life. Therefore, KOREA PAPER CULTURE FOUNDATION, behooves to make every effort in preserving this worthy traditional paper culture and further develop it. With the coming of the Information Age, there has been a great call for the restoration of humanity and healthy sentiment as well as creativity. We hope that through paper folding would revive our spirit of peace that first makes us happy and that also gives happiness to others. JONGIE JUPGI (PAPER FOLDING) gives us hope, love and peace and is considered as a mathematic, a science and an art. MERITS OF PAPER FOLDING:
