The College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) recognized its outstanding students during the CEAS Dean’s List Awarding Ceremony for Academic Year 2025–2026, celebrating their academic excellence, dedication, and perseverance.

Organized by the College of Education, Arts and Sciences Student Council (CEASSC), the ceremony highlighted the achievements of students who demonstrated strong academic performance and sustained commitment to their studies.

Dr. Leo S. Del Rosario, Dean of CEAS, congratulated all the awardees and expressed his pride in their accomplishments. He emphasized that their recognition reflects the hard work, determination, and commitment they have shown throughout the academic year.

The ceremony served not only as a recognition of academic achievement but also as an encouragement for students to continue striving for excellence.

The Language Institute of the National University College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) conducted its lecture series, “Understanding Human Experience and Culture: A Journey from Phenomenology to Ethnography,” on August 19, 2026, via Microsoft Teams, highlighting the importance of understanding human experiences within their cultural contexts.

The lecture featured Jemer Bareng Andres, LPT, MAEd, as a resource speaker, who shared insights on phenomenology and ethnography and their value in understanding how people experience, interpret, and give meaning to their everyday lives. The discussion emphasized that studying human experience goes beyond observing people’s actions and requires listening to their perspectives and considering the cultural contexts that shape their experiences.

The activity was organized by the Language Institute with the support of Dr. Leo S. Del Rosario, Dean of CEAS; Dr. Sherlyn Saspa, Director of the Language Institute; Prof. Jerico Gaspar, ESL Coordinator; and, Prof. Robinson Valenzona, TOEIC coordinator.

𝘔𝘈𝘕𝘐𝘓𝘈, 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 — Professors and faculty members from National University (NU)—spanning the College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) and various other academic departments—alongside educators from higher education institutions (HEIs) nationwide, successfully completed the 10-day intensive CHED-HUSAY Project ATTAIN (Advancing Technology in Tertiary Education through Artificial Intelligence) training, held from August 3 to 14, 2026.

Organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in partnership with the National Teachers College (NTC), the program granted these privileged educators advanced competencies to lead ethical AI integration across university classrooms.

The NU faculty and peers engaged in practical workshops on prompt engineering, Google Gemini, NotebookLM, and AI-assisted assessment design.

The College of Education, Arts, and Sciences stood tall as it recognized as the MOST CITED college in NU Manila during the “Gintong Pamana, Bughaw na Karangalan: The NU 2026 Service Excellence Awards!”.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐋𝐞𝐨 𝐒. 𝐃𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨, dean of CEAS, together with 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐉𝐞𝐦𝐦𝐚 𝐌. 𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬, associate dean of CEAS-IGE, received the said milestone that proves CEAS is engaged with providing excellent contributions to academic discourses that may help with nation-building, and making the institution a hub for quality instruction delivery.

Aside from it, the NU Philippines also recognized the loyalty and commitment to service of the following CEAS programs and CEAS-IGE faculty members:

Understanding Human Experience and Culture: A Journey from Phenomenology to Ethnography is a training program that introduces participants to qualitative approaches for understanding how people experience, interpret, and give meaning to their everyday lives and cultural environments. It traces the journey from phenomenology, which focuses on individuals’ lived experiences and perceptions, to ethnography, which explores these experiences within their broader social and cultural contexts.

Jemer Bareng Andres is a licensed professional teacher and full-time ESL instructor at the University of Perpetual Help System Cauayan, where he has been teaching learners from the elementary to the tertiary level since 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English from the Philippine Normal University–North Luzon in 2015 and his Master of Arts in Education major in English from Our Lady of the Pillar College–Cauayan Campus in 2019.

He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Linguistics at De La Salle University Manila. His scholarly work has been presented at national and international conferences, including the Linguistic Society of the Philippines International Conference (LSPIC) and the International Conference in Applied Linguistics and Language Education (ICALLE). He was also accepted as a Graduate Student Volunteer for the DOST–National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP)-funded project, HIKAYAT: Siyensya Gamit ang Wika, Sining, at Kultura (Indigenizing STEM in Philippine Basic Education through Culture, Language, and the Arts), which promotes the integration of culture, language, and the arts into STEM education in Philippine basic education. His research interests include sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, bilingualism and multilingualism, intercultural communication, and English language teaching and learning. He is also accepted in DOST-NRCP undertakings in research.

Isinagawa ngayong Miyerkules ang Pagkaing Pinoy 2026, isang makabuluhang tampok ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2026, na naglalayong ipakita ang mayamang kasaysayan, tradisyon, at pagkakakilanlan ng iba’t ibang rehiyon at pangkat etnolingguwistiko sa Pilipinas.

Idinaos ang programa mula 10:00 ng umaga hanggang 12:00 ng tanghali kung saan tampok ang iba’t ibang pagkaing inihanda at itinanghal ng mga g**o mula sa bawat programa ng CEAS at departamento ng IGE.

Nagbigay pambungad mensahe ang butihing dekano ng CEAS na si Dr. Leo S. Del Rosario kung saan kanyang binigyan-diin na sa pamamagitan ng programang Pagkaing Pinoy 2026, naging daan ang pagkain upang higit na makilala at mapahalagahan ang pagkakaiba-iba ng kultura sa bansa.

Samantala, nagbigay din ng maalab na mensahe ang kawaksing dekana ng CEAS-IGE si Prof. Jemma M. Gonzales, na ibinagi ang kanyang malugod na pagbati sa mga nakiisa sa isinagawang pagdiriwang.

Pinangunahan ng CEAS–IGE ang gawain, na nagbigay-daan upang maipakita ng bawat kalahok ang mga pagkaing kumakatawan sa kanilang nakatalagang rehiyon. Bukod sa paghahain ng pagkain, ibinahagi rin ang pinagmulan, kasaysayan, at kahalagahang pangkultura ng mga ito sa pamamagitan ng malikhaing presentasyon sa wikang Filipino.

Naging bahagi rin ng pagdiriwang ang pagsusuot ng Barong Pilipino at Filipiniana, na higit na nagbigay-diin sa tema ng pagpapahalaga sa kulturang Pilipino.

Kasalukuyang idinaraos ng Departamento ng Sining at Wika ng Institute of General Education ng National University (NU) Manila ang talakayan tungkol sa Wikang Filipino, artificial intelligence (AI), at pananaliksik na naglalayong palawakin ang paggamit ng teknolohiya sa pagpapayaman ng kaalamang Pilipino.

Sa temang “𝗪𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗜 | 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗸𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗸𝘀𝗶𝗸, 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗸𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗻𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼,” tinatalakay sa kasalukuyang programa ang mahalagang papel ng Wikang Filipino bilang instrumento sa pananaliksik at paglikha ng kaalaman, kasabay ng mabilis na pag-unlad ng mga teknolohiyang nakabatay sa AI.

Pinangungunahan ni Atty. Marites Barrios-Taran, Tagapangulo ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, ang talakayan na nakatuon sa mga oportunidad at hamon sa paggamit ng AI upang higit na mapalawak ang access sa impormasyon, mapahusay ang pananaliksik, at mapalalim ang pagpapahalaga sa wikang pambansa.

Sa patuloy na paglaganap ng AI sa edukasyon at pananaliksik, nagiging mahalaga rin ang responsableng paggamit nito upang mapanatili ang katumpakan, kredibilidad, integridad, at pagiging makabuluhan ng mga impormasyong nalilikha at naipapamahagi.

Sa pamamagitan ng ganitong talakayan, inaasahang higit na mauunawaan ng mga g**o, mag-aaral, mananaliksik, at iba pang miyembro ng komunidad ng NU Manila kung paano maaaring maging katuwang ang AI sa pananaliksik habang nananatiling mahalagang pundasyon ang Wikang Filipino sa pagbuo, pagpapalaganap, at pagpapanatili ng karunungang Pilipino.
