At 1:07 PM today, we recorded the SECOND 45ยฐC "DANGER" level heat index in the City of Manila this year. The heat index is expected to rise even further in the coming days.
Everyone is encouraged to reduce physical activities, especially those exposed to the sun, as these conditions may lead to heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
--> Hydrate Constantly: Drink plenty of water even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid caffeine or alcohol, as these can dehydrate you faster.
--> Stay Indoors: Remain in the shade or cool air areas as much as possible, especially during the peak heat hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
--> Dress Light: Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, and light-colored clothing to help your body breathe and reflect sunlight.
--> Limit Exertion: Postpone heavy physical activities or outdoor exercise until the evening when temperatures are lower.
--> Monitor Vitals: Keep an eye on elderly family members and children. If someone feels dizzy or nauseous, move them to a cool area and apply cold water to their skin immediately.

The TUP Manila University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (UDRRMO) Officers recently stepped up to share their expertise and assist in the successful conduct of the NSTP Emergency Preparedness Skills Activity on October 26, 2025. Working hand-in-hand with participants, our team focused on three critical life-saving techniques: hands-only CPR, bandaging methods, and safe victim lifting and moving. This activity was more than just a requirement; it was a vital exercise in disaster preparedness and response, ensuring that our student body is not only aware of safety protocols but is technically equipped to act decisively during real-world emergencies. The outcome of this seminar is a more resilient campus community.
We extend our special thanks to the dedicated NSTP Instructors and NSRC for their leadership and for providing the platform to make this training possible. Your collaboration allowed us to effectively transfer these essential skills to the next generation of volunteers. Together, we are fostering a culture of safety and readiness that strengthens the entire university against future calamities.
