The qualifications for each position are as follows:

1. Regular Faculty Member or Permanent Administrative Employee/Full-Time Part-Time Faculty Member.
2. At least Master’s degree holder in his/her field of specialization or any allied course.
3. With a teaching load at the time of the research proposal.

The Research Institute for Human and Social Development (RIHSD) proudly congratulates Women Doing Philosophy (WDP) for being one of the recipients of the PUP Recognition Awards for Collaborative Engagement (RACE) Year 2026. The ceremony was attended by WDP President Jean Emily Tan, accompanied by RIHSD-CSIS Chief Chloe Nicole D. Piamonte and RIHSD researchers Jeniel P. Dasig and Ron Justin Mangondato.

As one of RIHSD’s valued research partners, WDP has continuously demonstrated its commitment to advancing meaningful, inclusive, and socially responsive scholarship. This recognition highlights the importance of strong collaboration between reputable organizations and institutions in producing impactful research and extension efforts that contribute to nation-building.

𝐑𝐈𝐇𝐒𝐃 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐞𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧, 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬

The Research Institute for Human and Social Development (RIHSD) successfully conducted a focus group discussion with the Aeta community of Botolan, Zambales, as part of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ university-funded research project.

The RIHSD research team was composed of Chief Werllie P. Bueno, Project Lead; Dir. Melcah P. Monsura; Ms. Hazel Marie Vitales, PUP-DHP Faculty; and Ms. Celeste Orge of President Ramon Magsaysay State University. The team was also accompanied by the NCIP-IKSP Team throughout the activity.

This research project aims to recognize and better understand the culture and identity of the Aeta community in Botolan, Zambales, with the goal of developing research-based and evidence-based policies and programs that respond to their needs, aspirations, and lived experiences toward a more inclusive society.

Through meaningful dialogue and community engagement, the activity underscores the importance of listening to Indigenous Peoples and ensuring that their voices, knowledge systems, and cultural identity are acknowledged, respected, and valued in research and development initiatives.

With this activity, RIHSD remains committed to producing research that makes a difference, guided by PUP’s principle of 𝑀𝑢𝑙𝑎 𝑠𝑎 ’𝑦𝑜, 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑎 𝑠𝑎 𝐵𝑎𝑦𝑎𝑛.

The Research Institute for Human and Social Development research team, led by Chief Werllie P. Bueno, paid a courtesy call to President Ramon Magsaysay State University President Roy N. Villalobos in relation to the university-funded research project on the culture and identities of the Aetas in Zambales.

The RIHSD research team is currently in Zambales from 29 June to July 3, 2026, to conduct focus group discussions aimed at deepening understanding, appreciation, and documentation of the rich cultural heritage, lived experiences, and identities of the Aeta communities in the province.

This courtesy call further strengthens the signed Memorandum of Understanding and Memorandum of Agreement between the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and President Ramon Magsaysay State University, reaffirming both institutions’ shared commitment to advancing research and extension efforts toward meaningful service, inclusive development, and nation-building.

In line with its commitment to advancing children's rights through evidence-based policies and programs, the Research Institute for Human and Social Development (RIHSD) participated in the national launch of the Children’s Rights Research Agenda, organized by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) on 29 June 2026.

Representing RIHSD at this significant event were Chief Diosdado P. Franco (CCDS) and Chief Werllie P. Bueno (CSSES). The launch served as an important platform for outlining key research priorities, promoting ethical and child-sensitive research methodologies, and identifying strategic actions to strengthen collaboration and evidence-based policymaking toward a more inclusive and child-friendly society.

This participation further reinforces the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) previously signed between RIHSD and CWC, which reflects their shared vision of building a nation where the rights and welfare of every child are upheld and protected.

RIHSD’s partnership with CWC and its steadfast commitment to fostering an inclusive society for children are deeply anchored in PUP’s guiding principle: “𝑇𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑤 𝑛𝑔 𝐵𝑎𝑦𝑎𝑛, 𝑃𝑎𝑟𝑎 𝑠𝑎 𝐵𝑎𝑦𝑎𝑛.”

Unpacking Grade Inflation in Higher Education through Foucauldian Discourse Analysis underscores the importance of critically examining grading practices as a means of advancing fairness, equity, and student success within academic communities. More importantly, it calls on educators, leaders, and institutions to work collectively toward building inclusive academic communities where assessment is not only rigorous, but also reflective, compassionate, and responsive to the diverse realities of learners.

RIHSD in collaboration with College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD) faculty explore through university funded research the struggles of select LGBTQIA+ college students prior to their entry at the University titled, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐲 𝐋𝐆𝐁𝐓𝐐𝐈𝐀+ 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬: 𝐀 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡. This research significantly recognizes the struggles of LGBTQIA+ in the society. It also helps understand these struggles and opens discussion on the topic of bullying, homophobia, and transphobia.

On Cultural Heritage Month, we recognize the efforts to conserve, restore, and preserve our cultural heritage—whether tangible or intangible. These efforts would not be possible without the workforce behind the projects and advocacies that sustain them. We celebrate every woman who takes part in keeping our heritage alive and thriving. These contributions were highlighted in 2025 University-funded research project 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫.

This research also highlights the invaluable contributions of women workers in heritage conservation efforts, emphasizing their role in safeguarding cultural identity and history for future generations. Furthermore, the study calls for better compensation and safer workplaces for all cultural heritage workers. It opens discussions on the importance of creating decent and inclusive working conditions as part of building an inclusive community toward nation-building.
