TEACHING ANCIENT GREEK PHILOSOPHY SUMMER SCHOOL | 3-5 July 2026

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

This 3-day summer school introduces teachers to methods for teaching Ancient Greek philosophy in both a text-critical and philosophical manner by treating translations as interpretive acts and philosophical texts as arguments open to analysis and evaluation. Through workshops on fragments, dialogues, treatises, doxography, and commentary traditions, participants will develop strategies for working with diverse textual forms while integrating close reading, translation analysis, and philosophical interpretation. The program also aims to strengthen participants’ ability to design classroom practices that connect textual analysis with broader conceptual and historical developments from the Pre-Socratics to Late Ancient Philosophy.

We invite interested individuals to submit a brief statement of interest together with a 1-page curriculum vitae (CV) to [email protected] (subject: TAGPSS Participation) on or before 5 June 2026. 20 slots will be alotted for teachers of history of philosophy and 10 for other interested individuals (preferably graduate students). A modest registration fee of PHP 750.00 will be collected from all participants to partly cover logistical costs. Confirmations and registration details will be sent on 10 June 2026.

This summer school is organized by the Philippine Christian University Social Sciences Department.
