Correct Disrespect Immediately

The moment your child speaks to you with disrespect, address it immediately.

Not tomorrow.
Not later when you feel calmer.
Right then.

Because every moment disrespect is ignored, a lesson is being taught — and the lesson becomes: “It’s okay to talk this way.”

Correcting your child doesn't mean shouting, humiliating, or breaking their spirit.
It means guiding them back to respect.

You can calmly say:
"We don’t speak like that in this family. Try again with respect."

Children are still learning how to handle emotions, frustration, and anger.
But it is our responsibility as parents to teach them that feelings are valid — disrespect is not.

Respect in the home becomes respect in school.
Respect in friendships.
Respect in future relationships.

One day the way they speak to others will reflect what was allowed or corrected at home.

So when disrespect appears, don’t ignore it.

Correct it.
Teach it.
Model it.

Because respectful children don’t grow by accident — they grow through consistent guidance.

❤️ Parenting is not just about love.
It’s also about teaching respect.

Even adults sometimes feel this way; so we have to learn how to calm down and think before we react.💚

When your child hits, shouts, or lashes out… it’s easy to see defiance.

But what if it’s actually defence?

In the primary years, the fight response isn’t a choice. It’s a brain on high alert, reacting to a perceived threat. Their body floods with energy, their thinking brain goes offline, and survival takes over.

It can look like anger.
It can feel like aggression.
But underneath, it’s a child who doesn’t feel safe.

This is their voice… from the inside of the fight response.

Because when we understand what’s really happening, we stop asking, “How do I stop this behaviour?”
And start asking, “What does my child need right now?”

Girl version will also be posted.
