𝐃𝐅𝐌 𝐕𝐒𝐋 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬

The Department of Financial Management, under the leadership of Chairperson 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐢𝐚 𝐒. 𝐅𝐚𝐣𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐨, successfully conducted a meaningful and engaging Visiting Special Lecturer (VSL) Cultural Exchange activity for visiting guest 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐳 𝐇𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨 from I3L University Indonesia. The activity aimed to strengthen international academic ties while promoting a deeper appreciation of Filipino culture, history, and heritage.

Dr. Harjanto was warmly welcomed by the Department as part of its continuing efforts to foster global partnerships and cultural understanding among institutions. To provide an enriching cultural experience, the group toured the historic 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐬, famously known as the “Walled City” of Manila. During the tour, Dr. Harjanto explored the iconic landmarks and heritage sites that reflect the country’s rich colonial past and enduring cultural identity.
The group also visited the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 where they admired the diverse collections of Filipino art, history, anthropology, and natural heritage. The museum visit provided an opportunity to showcase the Philippines’ rich cultural legacy and artistic achievements, giving the guest a deeper understanding of the nation’s history and traditions.

As part of the cultural immersion, everyone gathered for a delightful lunch at 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚'𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭, one of Intramuros’ well-known heritage restaurants. The group enjoyed authentic Filipino cuisine while being entertained by vibrant cultural music and traditional folk dance performances. The lively presentation highlighted the beauty and diversity of Philippine culture, making the dining experience even more memorable.
The VSL Cultural Exchange became a meaningful avenue for friendship, collaboration, and cultural appreciation. Through the shared experiences, conversations, and cultural activities, the participants were able to strengthen connections and celebrate the spirit of international cooperation. The event not only highlighted the 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 of the Filipino people but also reflected the Department of Financial Management’s commitment to building global academic relationships and promoting intercultural understanding.

The Department of Financial Management successfully concluded its much-anticipated event, 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝: 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, held on May 2, 2026, at 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨. The program brought together distinguished academics and industry leaders to explore pressing issues shaping the financial landscape, from inclusion and geopolitical risk to the growing influence of artificial intelligence.

The event formally opened with 𝐃𝐫. 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐲 𝐁. 𝐏𝐫𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞serving as host, guiding attendees through a dynamic and intellectually engaging program. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐢𝐚 𝐒. 𝐅𝐚𝐣𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐨 provided the Welcome Remarks while 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝐀. 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚 gave Inspirational message to all attendees. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳 introduced the three invited speakers, highlighting their expertise and contributions to their respective fields. Serving as moderator, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐀. 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧facilitated insightful discussions and ensured a smooth transition between sessions.

The first speaker, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐳 𝐇𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨 from I3L University in Indonesia, delivered a compelling talk on 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲, 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚. He emphasized the critical role of education in empowering individuals to participate in financial systems, particularly in developing economies. Dr. Harjanto discussed how 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 continue to hinder financial inclusion, especially in rural communities. He underscored the importance of bridging the digital divide through policy support, technological infrastructure, and targeted educational initiatives to ensure that marginalized populations are not left behind in an increasingly digital financial world.

Following this, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐣𝐨𝐣𝐨, also from I3L University, presented on 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐧-𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. Her talk examined how geopolitical tensions influence global financial markets and corporate decision-making. Dr. Widjojo provided a 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, illustrating how organizations can prepare for and mitigate the financial repercussions of international conflicts. She stressed the importance of scenario planning, diversification strategies, and real-time data analysis in navigating uncertainty in volatile geopolitical environments.

The final speaker, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐆. 𝐃𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨, a Senior Vice President of a global bank in the Philippines, explored the topic 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬. His presentation highlighted how artificial intelligence is transforming financial decision-making processes, from predictive analytics to automated reporting. Dr. De Castro demonstrated how 𝐀𝐈 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, enabling financial professionals to make data-driven decisions at unprecedented speed. He also addressed challenges such as ethical considerations, data privacy, and the need for upskilling in the workforce to adapt to AI-driven systems.

The event concluded with an engaging discussion moderated by Dr. Calderon, where participants had the opportunity to raise questions and exchange ideas with the speakers. With the theme “𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟱.𝟬: 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽,” the conference gathered academic leaders and business educators nationwide to discuss innovations in learning, AI integration, sustainability, curriculum development, and future-ready leadership in business education.

The second day of the 𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐍𝐏𝐁𝐑𝐂) concluded on 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐬, 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, carrying forward the theme “𝑹𝒆𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔: 𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.”

The morning session featured the 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤, where researchers, educators, and professionals shared innovative studies and valuable insights across various business disciplines. These presentations reflected the growing commitment of the academic community to research excellence, sustainability, and digital advancement.

In the afternoon, 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 the recognized outstanding research papers, presenters, and contributors whose works demonstrated excellence, relevance, and innovation in the field of business research.

The conference formally concluded with closing remarks from, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐒. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚, 𝐃𝐁𝐀, 𝐅𝐁𝐄, Overall Chairman of NPBRC, who expressed gratitude to all partner institutions, speakers, presenters, organizers, and participants for the success of this year’s conference.

Day 2 marked a meaningful culmination of two days of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and research engagement that continue to inspire future-ready business leaders and scholars.
