SUBJECT: PARSSU 2026 Training Needs Survey
May–December 2026 Training Workshops
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Warm greetings from PARSSU!

As part of our continuing commitment to fostering research excellence and advancing data analysis competencies, we are preparing our lineup of training workshops for May to December 2026.

In this regard, we respectfully invite you to complete the PARSSU 2026 Training Needs Survey. This survey aims to identify priority topics and areas of interest in research writing and publication, scale validation and psychometric methods, statistical techniques, and analytics—from basic to advanced levels—as well as preferred statistical software for training.

Your input will serve as a valuable basis for designing relevant, high-impact, and responsive training programs for researchers, faculty members, graduate students, and other professionals.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete the survey through the link below:

In the Philippines, academic discussions often end after a training or seminar, reinforcing the misconception that learning occurs only during the event.

At PARSSU, we go beyond this practice by fostering continuous learning and collaboration beyond the training itself. Engagement remains open—not only to participants but also to other interested individuals—at no cost through the following platforms:

1. Google Mailing List
Interested individuals may subscribe by sending an empty email (no subject, no message) to:

Rethinking the Value of Training: Beyond Certificates and CPD Points

Look at the cost of statistical training offered by Stata, a U.S.-based company. For 4 sessions (3–4 hours per session), the fee is $1,395 (equivalent to ₱83,700 at $1 = ₱60). This reflects how knowledge and skills are valued in more advanced countries.

In PARSSU, our 4-session training (3 hours per session) is offered at only ₱2,000.

Some Filipinos may find ₱2,000 expensive because they view training primarily as a means of obtaining certificates rather than genuinely developing knowledge and skills. There is also a tendency to treat CPD points merely as requirements, instead of opportunities for meaningful learning and professional growth.

Moreover, some academic institutions approach training as a compliance requirement for accreditation, rather than as a strategic investment in developing faculty members into future consultants and published researchers.

As a result, many fail to recognize that knowledge and skills are investments, not expenses.

For a relatively small investment (e.g., ₱2,000 for the April 11–14 and ₱3,500 for the April 22–24 training workshops), our training programs are designed to build competencies that can open opportunities—including future consultancy work and other higher-value professional engagements. We hope more Filipinos will shift their mindset and come to recognize the true long-term value of training programs.
