Newbreed Teacher

22/03/2024

To all future teachers who took the exam last march 17, 2024. It's faith time! Advance congratulations to all of you😊

'NO PENALTIES FOR THE TEACHER'

Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte defends the teacher who recently went viral for scolding and calling her students ingrates and unintelligent in a TikTok live, saying that the teacher will receive no penalties from the regional office of DepEd.

"Tao lang ‘yung teacher. Lahat tayo, umaabot sa puntong nagagalit tayo lalo ‘pag napu-frustrate tayo. This is especially true sa mga teachers, dahil hindi lang isa na tao ‘yung kausap nila... Sinabihan ko ang regional office natin na there will be no penalties for the teacher," she said in a News5 interview.

According to Department Order 49 signed by Duterte on November 2, 2022, DepEd personnel must “respect legal restrictions and department rules when using social media” and must be “cautious not to spread false information or launch online attacks” against colleagues or students.

Furthermore, “any act by deeds or words that debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of a child as a human being” is considered child abuse, according to DepEd’s 2012 child protection policy.

However, instead of giving penalties, Duterte just reminded her and the teachers, in general, to pause and stop the class whenever they feel angry and resume it once they have calmed down.
