GENERAL INFORMATION Holy Rosary Kiddie Pre-School of Manila, (HRKS) operated Since 1983 as a non-profit non-stock organization licensed by the Department of Education (DepEd) and a member of MAPPRESA and Young Women’s Christian Association of Manila. We would like to welcome you to Holy Rosary Kiddie Pre-School Of Manila and acquaint you with our school philosophy and policies. HOLY ROSARY KIDDIE PRE-SCHOOL OF MANILA is a school for children between the ages of three to six years old, staffed by qualified teachers and other professionals who encourage and supervise educational play rather than simply providing childcare. It is a pre-school educational institution, part of early childhood education. The curriculum goals of a Nursery, Kinder, and Prep are more specific compare to childcare, but less strenuous than for primary school. Preschool is an early childhood program in which children combine learning with play in a program run by professional trained adults. Children are most commonly enrolled in a preschool between the ages of three and six years old, though those as young as two can attend some schools. Preschools are different from traditional day care in that their emphasis is learning and development rather than enabling parents to work or pursue other activities. Qualities of a Good Preschool According to the National Institute for Early Education Research, the types of teaching activities and classroom emphases that contribute to a high-quality early education for children include the following: 1. Opportunities to learn persistence when working at tasks, direction following, and good listening skills. 2. Focus on language and literacy skills, as well as interactive book reading. 3. Emphasis on teaching children problem-solving skills. 4. Helping children expand their knowledge and increase their vocabulary. 5. Opportunities to learn beginning skills involving the alphabet, numbers, and art. 6. Focus on scientific thinking skills as well as information about the everyday environment, the world, and how things work. 7. Emphasis on teaching early literacy and mathematics through a variety of activities and projects. 8. Opportunity for preschoolers to engage in music, art, and dramatic play educational program in which parents are involved and have opportunities to watch and take part in classroom activities. Provide a learning environment that will enhance creativity and develop their fullest potential. VISION We can see a learning center that the child considers his second home forward freely in an atmosphere of peace and joy. GOAL Give the children challenging mental work that cannot exhaust but nourish their spirit. PHILOSOPHY Children will be provided with educational experiences, loving care and protection in an accepting Christian environment. Our teachers manifest, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum. They serve as a role model, both in and out of school, to pupils and as an example to parents and fellow staff members in respect, judgment, and Christian living. The school curriculum introduces children to a Christian way of living and playing. Play is an integral part of the classroom, encompassing all the child’s learning activities. Our curriculum nurtures children family values. It is our expectation that families with children enrolled at Holy Rosary Kiddie Pre-School of Manila share certain values and standards which define and impose proper behavior that is required of all students. For example: no foul or abusive language, or aggressive/ intimidating actions toward others. We also expect parents to model these same behaviors in their interactions with all the staff and children at HRKS . GOALS-DAILY PROGRAM The staff of the HRKS has the following goals to help your child meet his/her spiritual, cognitive, physical, social, and emotional needs: 1. To help him/her feel happy and secure in the first step away from home. 2. To assist him/her to become independent and self-confident, as well as a competent group member 3. To teach him/her acceptable social behavior and manners 4. To stimulate his/her curiosity and creative powers 5. To inspire in him/her a desire to explore his/her environment 6. To produce in him/her academic achievement with high moral values 7. To grow in his/her knowledge and love of God These goals are attained through our daily program, which includes the following 1.Indoor and ourdoor play 2.Experience with numbers and pre-reading skills, as well as creative movement, fine and gross motor development, arts and crafts, music. Pupils are also introduced to technology though use of computers in the classrooms every Friday. 3.Love of God, country, family and the acceptance of the uniqueness of each individual 4. Snack, rest and toilet times Educational fieldtrip experiences expanding the classroom into the community. 5.In the Holy Rosary Kiddie Pre-School of Manila, Nursery must be 3 years old, Kinder must be 4 years old and Prep Must Be 5-6 years old on or before June of that school year. 6.Children progress, mature, and develop differently. Sometimes it is in the best interest of the child, even though they may meet age requirements, to delay a year in starting preschool.
