A surprising moment of connection and shared legacy unfolded as Sir Philip met SL Efren S. Sombrano, LT — who is part of the woodbadge training team. Sir Efren once served as a grade school teacher at Malate Catholic School. 💫

The memorable experience became even more inspiring with a photo opportunity alongside SG Cedrick G. Train, Secretary General of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, during his visit to Mt. Makiling after the training. 🌿📸

From shaping young minds in the classroom to guiding future leaders in scouting, their encounter reflects the lasting bond, pride, and spirit that every Malatean carries wherever they go. 💜⚜️

From the 25 years of scouting life and 10 years as MCS' Scout Leader to the highest level of training for adults scouts. The Woodbadge Training held at Mount Makiling — known as the highest level of training for adult scouts — he became the Patrol Leader of their group, showing dedication, leadership, and commitment throughout the training. 🫂⛺

Warmest congratulations to SL Philip Niño Bongcahig, WBH for successfully achieving the highest scouting training for adults through the Manila Council’s Woodbadge Training. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to the values of scouting continue to inspire young scouts and fellow leaders alike. 🎊

Introduced in 1919 by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the Wood Badge was created as a standardized leadership training system. Those who successfully completed the course were awarded two wooden beads worn on a leather lace as symbols of service, leadership, and commitment in Scouting. ⚜️

The tradition lives on as every Wood Badge trained leader becomes a member of the First Gilwell Park Scout Group where Scouting all began. Truly it was — a beacon of our Scouting's Heritage, and one that continues to foster a deep-rooted leadership within our mentors, teachers, and Scoutmasters. 🌟

Friday, May 22, 2026, Sr. GS Guerra, Sr. GS Jlood, Sr. GS Casalin, Sr. GS Gabrillo, and Sr. GS Panem, alongside event faciliators; Sr. GS Abdelnour, Sr. GS Gonzales, Cdt. GS Funelas, and Cdt. GS Tojo of the Malatean Girl Scouts of the Philippines gathered to participate in the Senior and Cadet Girl Scout Seminar with the theme: “𝙋𝘼𝙍𝘼 𝙋𝙊!: 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐨." at The Manila Girl Scout Counsil. 💕

They came together not only to listen, but to learn and embrace their history, culture, traditions, and arts. More than simply attending, they gathered to appreciate the past and proudly accept themselves as young Filipinas! 🌺 🇵🇭

The Malate Catholic School Scouting Unit paid a courtesy visit to Mrs. Atabay during their Leaders Assembly as a gesture of appreciation and a warm welcome as the new principal of Malate Catholic School. During the visit, the Scouts personally met with her and presented a small token of gratitude as a symbol of our sincere support and respect.

Moments like these remind us of the importance of respect, gratitude, and strengthening bonds within our community. We look forward to working alongside Mrs. Atabay under her leadership and creating more meaningful experiences, lasting memories, and enjoyable moments for the Malatean community.

Yesterday, May 16, 2026, the Scout Officers’ Assembly became a meaningful opportunity for growth, leadership, and unity among the officers of the Malatean Scout Community. Through the Leadership Talk led by Cdt. GS Espares, the officers were reminded that true leadership is rooted in empathy, responsibility, respect, and service to others. ⚜️✨

The assembly also served as a time for collaboration as the officers discussed and prepared plans for the upcoming scouting activities and events for this school year — strengthening teamwork, discipline, and coordination to better serve the scouting community. 🫂🤝

Sct. Ldr. Philip Niño Bongcahig formally presented the program for the first-ever wreath-laying ceremony of the Mahal na Krus ng Barrio Maytubig to the Pasay City Culture and Arts Council, in the presence of its Chairperson, Mrs. Teresita Calixto- Robles (Malatean Batch 1966).

The Mahal na Krus ng Barrio Maytubig is officially recognized Important Cultural Property of Pasay, with a legacy spanning two centuries. 🌟

Joining them for this momentous occasion were Teniente de Camarero JC De Leon Cuerdo (Malatean Batch 2010) and SK Chairperson Rosalinda Dela Cruz, in celebration of the sacred crucifix and its enduring tradition, observed every third Sunday of May.
