St. Joseph’s College of Quezon City was founded 75 years ago as St. Joseph’s Academy by Dutch Franciscan Sisters.

Situated along España Extension, the school admitted its first primary school pupils in 1932 and drew children from the rapidly growing communities of New Manila, Kamuning and San Juan. Under the leadership of its first school directress, Mother Magdala Verhuizen, the academy opened the high school department the following year. During the Japanese occupation, the school was closed down, the Dutch sisters interned in Los Baños, and the buildings were used as a mini-military hospital by the Japanese army and later by the US military. SJA officially became St. Joseph ’s College of Quezon City in 1948 with the opening of the college department which offered programs in education, liberal arts, secretarial science, and music. 🙏 SJCQC PILGRIMAGE | A JOURNEY OF FAITH

As part of the Franciscan 800th Anniversary Jubilee, the St. Joseph’s College of Quezon City community embarked on a meaningful pilgrimage of prayer, reflection, and fellowship.

Our journey brought us to:

⛪ National Shrine of San Antonio de Padua
⛪ St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish Church
⛪ Minor Basilica and Parish of St. Gregory the Great
⛪ St. John the Baptist Church

The pilgrimage culminated in the Holy Eucharist at the Juan de Plasencia Novitiate House, OFM.

Inspired by the life and spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi, may this journey renew our faith, deepen our sense of fraternity, and strengthen our commitment to care for one another and our common home.

WALANGPASOK | SEPTEMBER 8, 2026

Due to the anticipated heavy rainfall brought about by the (Southwest Monsoon), the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (QCDRRMC) has recommended the suspension of face-to-face classes at ALL LEVELS in both public and private schools in Quezon City on September 8, 2026.

Please be guided by the following learning arrangements:

𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐁𝐄𝐃)
• Grade 1-10: The exams scheduled for today have been rescheduled to Thursday, September 10, 2026, in accordance with school policy.

Exams scheduled for September 9 will remain as scheduled, provided that classes resume.

Grade 11-12: Classes will be conducted asynchronously. Please check Google Classroom for instructions and activities.
