To safeguard and foster the understanding of the identity and history of the University through its collections.

The existence of the UST Museum's collection dates back to 1682 as a "Gabinete de Fisica", a room where medical students could study Biology, Zoology, and other requisite sciences in detail. It was a co-curricular arm of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, one of the first faculties founded in the University of Santo Tomas.
