Today, we honor Raden Ajeng Kartini, born on April 21, 1879 in Java during Dutch colonial rule. She is best known for speaking out—through her letters—about the importance of education and equal rights for women at a time when girls were often denied schooling and limited to traditional roles.

Her writings, later published as Letters of a Javanese Princess, revealed her vision of a more equal society where women could learn, think freely, and contribute meaningfully to the nation. Though her life was short, her ideas spread widely and inspired lasting change.

On Kartini Day, she is celebrated as a national heroine whose legacy continues to inspire movements for education and women’s rights across generations.

As we enter this sacred season, we are reminded of the profound meaning of sacrifice, redemption, and boundless love. Holy Week invites us to pause, reflect, and deepen our connection with our faith, journeying alongside the life and teachings that inspire hope and renewal.

May this time bring peace to our hearts, strength to our spirits, and unity to our families. Let us embrace the spirit of repentance and gratitude, looking forward to the joy of resurrection and new beginnings.
