TMB Madrasah-Montessori Learning Center (TMLC)
A first in the country, TMLC combines the Montessori curriculum and madrasah education.
On May 31, 2024, TMLC learners, parents, and guests gathered at the Maharlika Blue Mosque Conference Hall to celebrate the 17th Recognition Day and Moving Up Ceremony of the TMB Madrasah Montessori Learning Center, Inc. (TMLC). The event was led by School Director Ms. Nelia Basman and School Principal Ms. Aida Mistul, who were instrumental in presenting and confirming the completers.
Despite a delayed arrival, Education Program Supervisor Mr. Ferdinand Paggao from the DepEd TaPat Division met with school officials at the TMLC campus.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of Taha Foundation PH Board Treasurer, Ms. Bai Aisha Rasmia Alonto Datu-Ramos, who served as the keynote speaker. She was introduced by Ms. Jannah Basman, Head of Women, Youth, and Child Affairs at the Taha Foundation PH-Community Initiatives. In her inspiring address, Ms. Datu-Ramos emphasized the importance of supportive individuals in our academic journeys and reminded everyone that Allah (swt) believes in us more than we believe in ourselves.
The event was marked by pride and joy as learners received their awards, much to the delight of their parents and guardians. This momentous occasion celebrated the dedication and hard work of the students, encouraging them to continue striving toward their dreams and goals.
The event's success was a testament to the collaborative efforts of the TMLC faculty and Taha Foundation-Community Initiatives staff, ensuring an orderly and meaningful celebration.

In celebration of the end of Ramadhan, TMLC students, parents and friends came together for a morning of fun and surprises for everyone during its Annual Eid'l Fitr Program.
After the Islamic presentations made by students, fun games followed gamely participated by parents and teachers. Exchanging of gifts was also part of the day's activities. Sharing of food signified the happy ending of the Eid celebration.
Jazakh Allahukhairan to all who participated in the event.
For the first time in two years, TMLC had a face-to-face celebration during its UN Day Program last October 28, 2022 at the school quadrangle in Taguig City, an open area where COVID protocols were followed. Students introduced themselves using the language of the country they represent, others who can't be present, sent videos /pics of their greetings. Moreover, they even had a group presentation for each grade level. Onsite students were joined by some Distance Learners.
It was a day of bonding with classmates, teachers, friends and families. MashaAllah, the weather indeed cooperated, shortly after the program Typhoon Paeng started to make its presence felt until it became a super typhoon in the coming days. We pray for those affected by the calamity that ensued, especially in Mindanao.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Assalaamu ‘alaykum wrwb,
In light of the recent announcement (DepEd Order no. 34 s. 2022) on the holding of full face-to-face classes starting November 2, we would like to inform you that TMLC is complying with the said Order as required of all Philippine schools with a Permit to Operate from Department of Education (DepEd). Thus, the video orientation that TMLC promised shall be revised to include in-person classes. We will likewise move our opening from August 1 to a later date.
We understand that the abovementioned arrangement is not possible for many of our students who prefer the modular online classes and home education program that TMLC has been co-implementing with our dear guardians the past two school years. To address this concern, the TMLC Board will hold a meeting to discuss the alternative options for our returning students so we can continue to accommodate students opting for these two modes of learning. TMLC has likewise sent a letter of clarification to DepEd regarding this matter. We’ll keep you posted and make the proper announcements in due time.
Meanwhile, learners who have enrolled may do any of the following:
1) stand by and wait for further announcement/s; or
2) reimburse the full amount paid for school fees.
Thank you and hoping for your kind understanding. We also hope to hear from you.
These are the topics for our Weekend Islamic School this month of July, in shaa Allah! For those who are planning to enroll in TMB Madrasah-Montessori Learning Center (TMLC), we can also provide you with link to the last session 🙂

'EID MUBARAK!
As this day of ‘Arafat ends, here are some takeaways we can keep in mind as we celebrate ‘Eid al-Adha in the succeeding days:
1. The reminders our Prophet (peace be upon him) gave us during his farewell sermon at the Uranah Valley of Mount ‘Arafat on 9th Dhul Hijjah 10 AH. For us, the most remarkable of the messages is:
“…Reason well, therefore, O people, and understand the words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qur'an and my example, the Sunnah, and if you follow these you will never go astray…”
2. After praying your ‘Eid salah, have your qurbani slaughtered, distribute part of it to the poor and whomsoever you want, and eat your share of it.
Narrated Jundab:
On the day of Nahr the Prophet (ﷺ) offered the prayer and delivered the Khutba and then slaughtered the sacrifice and said,
"Anybody who slaughtered (his sacrifice) before the prayer should slaughter another animal in lieu of it, and the one who has not yet slaughtered should slaughter the sacrifice mentioning Allah's name on it."
[Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 985]
3. Don't fast on the days of ‘Eid al-Adha (10th of Dhul Hijjah) and Tashreeq (11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhul Hijjah).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade fasting on these days: “Do not fast on these days, for they are the days of eating, drinking and remembering Allaah.” Narrated by Ahmad, 10286; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 3573.
4. Recite the takbeerat after every fardh salah from Fajr of 9th Dhul Hijjah (8 July) until ‘Asr of 13th Dhul Hijjah (12 July).
After saying the tasleem at the end of the obligatory prayer, pray for forgiveness (by saying Astaghfir-Allaah) three times, and say,
“Allaahumma anta al-salaam wa minka al-salaam, tabaarakta yaa dhaa’l-jalaali wa’l-ikraam (“O Allaah, You are al-Salaam [the One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies], and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O possessor of majesty and honour)”, then start the following takbeer:
Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar
Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah
Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar
wa lillaahi’l-hamd
(Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great,
there is no god but Allaah,
Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great,
and to Allaah be praise).

United Nations Celebration 2021 and October Monthly Kumustahan
Last October 22, TMB Madrasah-Montessori Learning Center held its UN Celebration. All the kids wore the national costume of their chosen country. They also researched on fun facts about the country they represented.
After that, Ms. Jane Dimacisil-Samur talked about positive discipline. After sharing the Islamic perspective on child discipline and essentials for positive discipline, she gave the parents time to reflect on their parenting triggers. She gave them an acronym to accompany this reflection: SABR.
S stands for Story - What is the story in their mind when the trigger happens? Is the story really what the child intended to do or to make them feel, or is the story more of an interpretation rooted in the parent's own challenges and issues?
A stands for Affect. How does the trigger affect the parents?
B is for Behavioral Response. What happens and how does the parent act towards the child when the trigger appears?
R is for Result. What is the result of the trigger?
She explained that there is a need to exercise sabr (patience) to not give in to the triggers and to change the story that the parent has in one's mind as it often harms the parent-child relationship. A hadith to keep in mind about maintaining sabr and mindfulness during tough parenting moments is:
Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by a woman who was weeping next to a grave. The Prophet said, “Be mindful of Allah and be patient.” She said, “Go away from me! You have not been afflicted by a calamity like mine,” and she did not recognize him. Then, she was told that it was the Prophet, so she went to the Prophet’s house and she did not find any guards there. She said to him, “I did not recognize you.” The Prophet said, “Verily, patience is at the first strike.”
While the acronym SABR can be very useful when parents are taking a pause to ponder on their common triggers, parents need to come up with a plan of action to respond compassionately to their children when these triggers happen. Ms. Jane suggested the acronym SHUKR.
S is to Stop Yourself from reacting to the trigger by taking a pause or sitting.
H is to Help Yourself. Give yourself time to recover by following the pieces of advice of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on controlling anger.
U is to Understand Your Child. Know where they are coming from.
K is to Kindly Resolve the Issue with the Child.
And R is to Repeat these actions to resolve future challenges.
It was a productive end for the week for the TMLC and all the kids and the parents got something from the virtual program.

Ms. Dimacisil-Samur's talk on positive discipline forms part of her upcoming book, "Hearts at Home: Raising Resilient, Righteous Muslims"
For last Saturday's Weekend Islamic School, we read the story The Boy Who Grew A Forest based on the life of Jadav Payeng, the man who started the Molai Forest Reserve in India. From there, we talked about ecology and climate change.
The kids were shocked to see the effects of climate change in the different parts of the world. Wildfires, coral bleaching, rising sea levels, polar bears traveling for hundreds of miles from the arctic to the city--these were just some of the scenarios that are happening right now.
"But, Auntie Talia, why are we talking about climate change during the Weekend Islamic School?" We recapped on the lessons we got from the story of Prophet Adam (as). How he was assigned by Allah swt as the vicegerent of the world. As humans, we are the khalifa (trustee) of the earth. Everything we need is already provided for by the environment we're living in. To show our gratefulness, the least we can do is to take care of it.
MashaAllah! It's so nice to listen to the kids' insights. We capped off the lesson by asking them how they can help the environment and playing some games at the end. Alhamdulillah! Another great day of learning with the kids:)
Let's welcome Muharram by following the sunnah :)
