Importance of Reactive Power Load Flow Analysis.
The case study below shows individual inverter output for a BESS generation facility with 212 inverters rated 1200KVA each. With simple math, the entire plant is rated, 1.2 x 212 = 254.4MVA while the required at POI in only 200MW. One would immediately conclude it can meet the requirement. However, with closer inspection, we see that the required power output P (kW) for each inverter, under various voltages and reactive power (Q) outputs, have went outside the inverter's PQ capability curve.

Load Flow & Reactive Power Study
The main objective of this study is to determine if the project substation is capable of meeting the voltage and reactive power requirements at the point of interconnection with the transmission operator.
The PV and BESS generators are driven by inverters which have PQ capabilities depending on the model and manufacturer.
The main question basically is, will the aggregate or combined inverter output be able to meet the voltage and reactive power requirement while also able to provide the rated MW output per the agreement? Or will you have to install capacitors?

Please also share to your EE friends.
You might find this upcoming presentation informational. We'll be discussing an actual project (most of the time, I do this in my lectures), so you may relate to the practical aspect.
The project in itself is straightforward - (1) replace an old unit substation with a new one and (2) reduce the arc flash energy on the LV switchgear. Although, the method to reduce the energy that I've chosen can be something different than yours. So hopefully we could exchange ideas.
FYI - please register at the IIEE Metro East Chapter page if interested. They are the organizers, I am just an invited guest supporting their activities.
