The faithful of Southern Leyte recently celebrated a significant milestone as the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of the Immaculate Conception - Sogod will mark its First Shrine Anniversary on June 08, 2025 and the Inauguration of Phase 1 of the Shrine Ceiling Project last May 31, 2026.

The anniversary commemorates the shrine's first year as a recognized diocesan center of Marian devotion, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while the completion of the first phase of the ceiling project signifies the continued beautification and preservation of the sacred space for future generations. This dual celebration reflects not only the growth of the shrine's spiritual mission but also the collective dedication of clergy, benefactors, and parishioners in enhancing the house of God.

As the shrine enters its second year, it stands as a testament to the enduring faith and generosity of the people of Sogod, who continue to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary through prayer, service, and stewardship of their cherished sanctuary.

Our hearts overflow with grace as we continue to gather in the ACSP Signs of Hope Jubilee Pilgrimage, united in faith and devotion.

At the Catedral de Santa María de la Sede, we stand in awe before one of the great treasures of Christian architecture, a magnificent testament to the faith of countless generations. Within its sacred walls, we are reminded that the Church continues to proclaim the glory of God through prayer, worship, and witness.

Our pilgrimage then leads us across the historic district of Triana to the Real Parroquia de Santa Ana, affectionately known as the “Cathedral of Triana.” In this beloved parish, we encounter a vibrant legacy of devotion and community, where faith has been nurtured and celebrated for centuries. May these sacred encounters deepen our love for God, strengthen our communion with the Church, and inspire us to live as true Signs of Hope.

Together with Dr. Kendrick Ivan Panganiban, Lay-Secretary of ACSP - Association of Catholic Shrines and Pilgrimages of the Philippines, we continue to see the elegance and beauty of our Churches.

Sharing these graduation photos of Bro. Kendrick Ivan Panganiban during the UST Ecclesiastical Faculties Commencement Exercises 2026 held last May 30, 2026 at Santísimo Rosario Parish - UST where he received the Doctoral Degree in Theology in Church History (D.Th.CH./S.Th.D.). He is thankful to the UST Faculty of Theology, especially the professors, his mentor Rev. Fr. Emilio Edgardo A. Quilatan, OAR, EHD, his licentiate mentor and current UST Secretary-General Rev. Fr. Louie R. Coronel, O.P., EHL, his kabayan and current Vice-Rector of UST Central Seminary, Fr. Narciso Estrella, O.P., S.Th.L., to his loving parents, family, and friends.

Dr. Panganiban finished his doctoral dissertation entitled "THE SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF PEACE AND GOOD VOYAGE OF ANTIPOLO: A Theological Study of its Historico-Pastoral Development as a National and International Shrine in view of New Evangelization". This research work is linked to his current apostolate at the ACSP - Association of Catholic Shrines and Pilgrimages of the Philippines. Dr. Panganiban also thanks Most Rev. Dennis C. Villarojo, Bishop of Malolos; Most Rev. Ruperto C. Santos, Bishop of Antipolo and Rector of The Antipolo Cathedral; Most Rev. Socrates Mesiona, MSP, Bishop-Chairman of the CBCP-ECMI; and Rev. Fr. Most Blessed Virgin Mary, who upon hearing the wondrous news of your divine motherhood, set out in haste to visit your cousin Elizabeth, we come before you today seeking your powerful intercession.

O Mother of God, during your Visitation, you carried the Son of God in your womb, bringing Christ physically to Elizabeth’s home. At the sound of your greeting, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and the infant John leaped for joy in her womb, recognizing the presence of his Lord.

In that sacred moment, moved by the Holy Spirit, you proclaimed your Magnificat, praising God for His marvelous works and proclaiming His mercy from generation to generation. Your soul magnified the Lord, and your spirit rejoiced in God your Savior.

We ask you, dear Mother, to visit us as you visited Elizabeth. Bring Jesus to us and help us recognize His presence in our lives. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts so that we, like John, might leap with joy at Christ’s coming. Inspire us to serve others with your same humility and love.

O humble Handmaid of the Lord, teach us to respond generously to God’s will, to journey in faith despite difficulties, to bring Christ to others through our words and actions, and to wait patiently and hopefully for the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, continue your visitation in the Church and in our world. Obtain healing for the sick, comfort for the sorrowful, hope for the discouraged, and peace for the troubled. Visit our families with your Son’s love and transform our hearts to more closely resemble your own Immaculate Heart.

We thank you for your maternal care and protection. Help us to proclaim with you that the Almighty has done great things for us, and holy is His Name.

Through your powerful intercession, may we receive the graces we seek during this novena, if they be in accordance with God’s will. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
