JSHS Special Program in the Arts - SPA

In commemoration of the 21st death anniversary of National Artist Ang Kiukok on May 9.

Ang Kiukok rose to prominence as a pivotal artist in the wake of the groundbreaking modernists of the 1960s. He developed a unique formal and iconographic style, marked by creations that are not only visually arresting but also rich in meaning. His artwork captured the fear and anxiety stemming from the political turmoil of that time, expressed through vivid, cubist shapes. Kiukok's approach was profoundly anchored in humanist fervor and social consciousness.

Para sa bawat manggagawang Pilipino—mula sa magsasakang nagtatanim ng bigas na bumubuhay sa ating hapag hanggang sa iba’t ibang sektor na nagpapatakbo ng bansa, kayo ang tunay na lakas at puso ng Pilipinas na patuloy na nagsusulong ng pag-unlad at pag-asa para sa lahat. 🤲

It wasn't always easy, and it certainly wasn't perfect. We’ve had our tired days and our tough moments, but we never stopped moving forward as one unit. So proud of this MAPEHmily for finishing strong. Time to recharge and reconnect.
