The online learning environment in the Philippines has proven to be detrimentally lacking and unprepared. The neoliberal policies that we have shared with you in our first chapter further supports the notion that education, though it should be a right for all, is viewed almost as a privilege as only those who can afford them are ensured of โquality educationโ amid our current situation. This exclusivity supporting only those of higher socioeconomic status is inapplicable to the vast majority of our populace.
From Filipino households experiencing financial problems and thus being unable to send their children to school, to student mental health issues stemming from online classes; we discuss below the sad and harsh reality of the Philippine education system amid the pandemic. Most of us have already realized this but it is important to share and know the gravity of the situation as to enlighten those who have had the privilege to not feel the repercussions of this new learning environment. We also provide our insight and input regarding the movement and wish to share an alternative called that would be more inclusive to the plight of our educators as well.
Please spare some time to read and we hope you continue to fight with us for a better tomorrow.

As citizens of the Philippines and in solidarity with the Roman Catholic Church, we at EduAksyon do our best to align our cause to fight against corruption with the teachings of the Church.
Below are some of the teachings from various papal encyclicals where our ideas are founded upon and that of which guide us in our fight against corruption in the government.

You're frustrated. I'm frustrated. We are ALL frustrated at the state this country is in. However, we must never give up.

Why is it that it is always personal gain over public service in the political scene of this country? We improve at a snails pace due to the corrupt leaders that we elect into positions of power. Generally, this can be attributed to the fact that the vast majority of the voting public are impoverished and ignorant/uneducated of current events. Corrupt leaders take advantage of this to win in elections using flowery words and empty promises.
In line with the recent events that have exposed the corrupt actions of our supposed "public servers," we at EduAksyon would like to delve deeper into how corruption not only affects other facets of our social structure but also degrades the quality and potential of our public educational system. This in turn, affects the critical thinking capabilities of our people and perpetuates a cycle of ignorance and poor decision-making within our predominantly impoverished citizens; consequently, it continues the cycle of poor leadership and corruption in the government.
We can help improve the educational system in our own way by spreading awareness to help curb/mitigate, or hopefully even eradicate, corruption by doing our part and voting for the right individuals who truly love their country and countrymen.

As children of God and as students of the Royal Pontifical University of Santo Tomas, we are encouraged to live our lives in accordance to the word and teachings of Christ.
In our advocacy to spread awareness regarding the Philippine educational system, we can see many parallels and applications of various encyclicals and religious teachings to how we can help solve and address the problems within our educational system.
Below are some of the Church's teachings that we see eye-to-eye on. These align with our ideologies which are universal and beneficial to all.
